I need a vacation. Do you? J and I love our short weekend “get-aways”. It’s Friday(Amen!), and I am sharing at Kelly’s Korner for her Show Us Your Life series. Today, I am sharing my favorite vacation destinations.

As you can tell, I prefer small, quaint towns. I do love beaches, and I love to shop, eat, and drink my way through each town. Supporting small businesses is a mission of mine.

Vacations (I long for one), y’all

  1. I know you are so ready to get back to the beach. I'm sure you will get to Grand Isle during the Easter break! Have a great weekend! <3

  2. What fun you guys have. I am really happy that you can get away for those mini-vacations...they really do make a difference, don't they? I am so ready for one, too, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen soon- xo Diana

  3. Come to see me in Spearman Texas where you can see the next town in the dusk 26 miles away; ride a horse; see some snakes; climb an oil rig or a windmill; eat some hormone free beef; or beef full of hormones; I'll make you a green beer :-)

  4. What a fun post, Ron! My girls will be home for Spring break next week; and we have not made a single plan! You have given me some great ideas!

  5. Fabulous vacations Ron. I saw her party today and was going to put something together - or at least add one of my previous posts! And thanks for your input on my piano. So many adults who quit playing regret that decision. I try to remind my son of that every time he loses some motivation! By the way, I bought the piano today! Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. Lovely travels! I'm green with envy! I grew up a hop skip and jump from Perdido and still spend a couple weeks there each summer Indigo's neighbor condominium, The Beach Colony. The condos in it are all decorated very differently so it takes some avid research on VRBO's website to find a well appointed one, but we love that they have three pools. Those Indigo digs are lavish!

Should you be in this neck of the woods again I highly recommend The Jellyfish Bar nearly across the street from Indigo. It was opened by my mother-in-law's cousin and the custom glass blown pendant lights are stunning, the martinis are out of this world and there are fun trivia nights. You also must try Cobalt just down the beach beneath the bridge into Gulf Shores, reservations are a must but it is enormous and the bar out back and stingray shark tank is something to talk about! Should you wander into Pensacola, Palafox has many great bars, eateries, and glorious little local shopping spots and galleries. HopJacks has great duck fat fries and hundreds of beers, and not far away McGuire's has nearly half a million dollars stapled within it, a human skeleton of a pirate wench, and don't forget to Kiss the Moose and drink a dangerous Irish Wake from a giant mason jar! I could go on forever about my little city, I love it so dearly!

  8. I’m with you in preferring small quaint towns to visit for vacations. Maybe it’s that Y chromosome and it made me prefer to not have any vendors or tour guides tail and nag me. I think lesser populated beach spots and towns are great because you can explore on your own and find something to enjoy and want to go back to.
