Fall Containers

Yes! You heard right. Fall. I am so ready for the cooler Fall temperatures around these parts. The crisp, cool air does a body good.

Southern Living recently sent out an online newsletter of their best ideas for Fall container gardening. Wow! I cannot wait to get to planting when the seasons change. In Southern Louisiana, you never know when that will be. Temperatures are still above 90 degrees lately.

I love the colors of fall…deep greens, golds, oranges, rusts, and more. The flowers and textures are warm and always breathtaking.

When do you plant your Fall annuals?

  1. I've been considering removing some of my summer annuals and planting some fall colored mums in the containers. I love the colors of fall too and all the nurseries around here are stocking up. What to do, what to do!!

  2. Those are all beautiful containers, Ron. I am holding onto my summer ones a bit longer because I feel like I got cheated out of Summer this year. Blessings- xo Diana

  3. I love Fall flowers too. It is tricky to know when to plant them here because of the heat. Often, it's too hot for them until the end of Fall! So, it seems like there is a short window of time for us to enjoy them.

  4. Great ideas for containers, Ron! My summer gardens are still flourishing. I don't usually put out fall flowers until late September or early October. That's usually when we see the temps drop a little. I am so ready!

  6. Still in the triple digits here, so won't be planting my fall containers this week. Ha! I'm hoping I can get the planted soon though. Things are looking pretty sad around the garden.
Thanks for sharing all the inspiration. Makes me want to head to the garden center..........but, they won't have anything yet.

  7. Fall planters are something I don't do well because nothing looks as good in my planters as Kimberly queen ferns. I used to use large ivy topiaries....yes fake ivy. i just threw up a little in my mouth. haha. You've inspired me to try Alberta spruce again. Happy fall y'all... :-)

  8. Great inspiration pics. The mixed containers looks so good. I went to the garden center today and they were just getting in some mums. Hope they get in some more things soon.
