Wayfare {Restaurant}

 

Freret Street in Uptown New Orleans is becoming a mecca for good food, good drink, and entertainment. New restaurants are opening up all the time, and Wayfare is a great addition to the block.

J and I finally made it over to Wayfare on Saturday for lunch and were immediately impressed with the decor. The decor is a good mixture of rustic and industrial.

At the heart of Wayfare lies the sandwich. An American staple. A full meal you can hold in your hand -- nourishing and satisfying. Yet, what makes a sandwich a sandwich, philosophically speaking? Is it just a filling between two pieces of plain bread? Or is it something more?

Wayfare is inspired by a desire for the finest and freshest ingredients. We intend to make the sandwich something more – to perfect the art of sandwich making. To up the ante, so to speak. House made jams, spreads, and mustards add just the right touch of sophistication to this household staple. Our unique side items, a seasonal soup and salad menu, and a selection of Charcuterie and cheese plates make the perfect bite of everything.

More than just a sandwich counter, more than just lunch spot, we hope to create an atmosphere. Wayfare will be a neighborhood place where, if you desire more than a quick bite to eat, you can stay with us for a while, enjoy a cheese plate, and a bottle of wine from our unique wine list.

Is there a better description? I think not! The above description nails it perfectly.

J & I started with two of the best Bloody Marys that I have tasted in a while.

Sweet Potato & Habanero Pepper Hot Sauce,
Dill Pickle Juice, & Celery Bitters

For lunch, I dined on one of the most delicious sandwiches ever, the BL(fg)T! Seriously! I devoured every bite and did not want the bites to end.

J also devoured his Pork Salad. He loved it too.

I have a feeling that Wayfare like Audubon Clubhouse and Ignatius will be a great go-to spot for delicious dining.

  3. Oh both your meals look so good. It looks like a great place to eat. My husband would love those Bloody Mary's- that's his favorite drink other than a good beer. I've always heard the New Orleans has a lot of great food.
