Amelia Island 2013 {The Plantation Shop}

There are quite a few specialty shops on the grounds of Amelia Island Plantation, but my favorite shops are housed in 3 gorgeous buildings a couple miles down A1A, The Plantation Shop.

I have always loved The Plantation Shop in Atlanta before it rebranded and became Tennille & Company. There were locations on Roswell Road in the heart of Buckhead and in The Shops of Vinings. Both were fabulous spaces. I do not think either still exist…so sad!

The Plantation Shop {three buildings} in Amelia Island is still in business and always a treat for the eyes.

The Plantation Shop, an island tradition for 35 years, offers three buildings filled with unique collections of antiques, furniture, home accessories, and gifts.

Building one features traditional English and French antiques, antique smalls, books, home accessories, gourmet foods, children’s gifts, and fashion accessories.

Building two offers unique antiques, home accessories, and gifts inspired by a coastal and casual feel. In addition to a complete collection of outdoor Polywood furniture nestled in a patio and porch setting.

Building three is a great combination of new furniture that mixes well with antiques as well as custom slip covered and upholstered furniture by Four Seasons.

With constantly changing inventory, the signature feel of The Plantation Shop’s merchandise always remains the same; elegant, yet casual, well crafted and full of charm, with items at all price points.

The Plantation Shop was chock full of English and French antiques, home accessories, gifts, books, stationery, children's gifts, outdoor and patio furniture, slipcovered and upholstered furniture.

Here are some photos I snapped of my favorite things:

I did not leave The Plantation Shop empty handed. Can you guess what I had to add to my decor?

I fell in love with the crest bowl and mini biscuit barrel. I had them shipped to NOLA, so I was so happy when they finally arrived at my door.

A set of cocktail napkins with an Amelia Island setting also came home with me. Cheers!

  4. The items you bought for yourself are perfect in your home! They are a nice reminder of your time there too, I bet. I have never been to Amelia Island, but have heard it is beautiful. I remember shopping at Tennille & Co. though in Suwanee. I even got to tour the owners home a few years ago when it was part of a Peachtree Battle home tour for a charity organization. It was beautiful.

  5. The bowl and mini biscuit barrel,and napkins are great souvenirs of your visit. Love the unexpected look of the turtle shells. Yesterday we had a box turtle by our mums on the front steps. I've never found any unoccupied shells, though. Have a great weekend.

  8. I loved the shop in Atlanta, but I found them to be quite snobby, especially the Buckhead location.

  9. I used to love this shop in Atlanta too. I guess the business went belly up like many after 2008. I never liked the name change to Tennille & Co.....awful!
