Guilty Pleasures {Kim of Queens}

Have you seen the newest show on Lifetime yet? I swore I was not getting addicted to yet another reality show, for I have way too many on my DVR list at the moment. They suck me in and then that’s all she wrote.

I saw the pilot episode of Kim of Queens a few weeks ago and have become entranced with her bigger than life personality. Like my girl NeNe Leakes, Kim throws some amazing one-liners. When she gets it right in the second episode, Kim says, “I’m not trying to toot my own horn, but toot toot”. In context, the line was fabulous.

Kim is one of our country’s leading pageant gurus. Do I like pageants? No, not really, but I do not like dance revues either. Yet, I am still addicted to Dance Moms. Figures! There is just something about that whole pageant circuit that interests me from afar. It’s the “crazy” moms living their lives through their girls.

From the website:

While applying her homegrown philosophy that beauty is only skin deep, Kim, with her larger-than-life personality that is peppered with tough love and plenty of humor, searches for young talent that many might pass over on first glance. As Kim likes to say, "You can wear a burlap sack, girl; but if you got it on the inside, it shines on the outside." At the young age of 16, this former self-proclaimed "ugly duckling" was crowned the youngest Miss Georgia in the pageant's history. Kim will be the first to say that winning Miss Georgia was great, but losing Miss America made her who she is today. Now, as the owner and CEO of her business, the renowned Pageant Place, Kim shares her incredible talents and over-the-top, engaging personality with the young, talented hopefuls seeking her sage advice that has proven to take young girls to the top.

Miss Georgia

Kim of Queens airs on Tuesday nights at 10E/9C following Dance Moms on Lifetime.

I must also add that I am looking most forward to Southern Charm premiering March 3 on Bravo.

Kim of Queens, y’all!

  2. I never got into reality shows because I know that I, too, would become addicted. I don't think the hubby would let me change the channel from Fox News to watch them! ;) Although, I think I may have to tune into Southern Charm. Have a great day and stay warm! xoxo

  5. Hadn't heard of it, but sounds intriguing. I love Dance Moms, but don't want it much. Will have to check out the new Southern Charm show.
    Have to say I think Kim looks ten times better now than she did when she won the title of Miss Georgia!

  7. I haven't seen this one, but I'm definitely looking forward to Southern Charm, although I'm sure it will embarrass us. I can't stand that show Big, Rich Texas.

  10. She is hysterical. I love her larger-than-life personality...and that she is not some skinny little thing that tells everyone to lose weight and go blond! LOVE her-Wouldn't you love to have lunch with her? xo Diana

  11. That is one I have not seen, but the Southern Charm one scares me a bit. I am FROM SC, so it could be great fun or a holy train wreck! However, you can bet i will be watching through my fingers!

  12. Haven't seen this one, Ron. I'm rather faithful with The Biggest Loser and American Idol - after they get to Hollywood!:-)

  13. I've seen this show advertised but haven't watched it yet. I didn't realize that she is a former Ms. Georgia! That makes me like her more now! I'll have to check out her show.
