Sneaux Day & a Winner

It rarely ever happens, but I am enjoying my coffee this morning on my couch in my warm home due to a “sneaux day”. Winter storm warnings for Southern Louisiana have been posted so many schools and businesses closed in anticipation of the “event” of wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain.

Plants have been secured, and I am inside for the day.

Thanks, Oprah!

And congratulations to Pat of the blog, Gypsy Heart & Soul for winning the January Give Away, two acrylic stemless monogrammed wine glasses.

Here is what Pat had to say:

Never can have too many monograms! That's what the South is known for ~ :)
Of course, I'm a follower and have already liked both on FB.
I LOVE monograms and would so enjoy having the glasses to entertain a guest. Great wine, good friend = awesome!

  1. We are under an advisory here as well, but schools are open (at least for now). The worst of the weather is going to be south of the city (go figure). Love the Oprah clip!!

  4. Happy snow day!!!! I know you don't get those much living in New Orleans! Our schools are open, but just for half a day. They have "early release". My son will get home around 2:15. I think the white stuff is getting here later today. I don't expect very much though. Have a fun relaxing day and hope you stay safe if you're getting ice.

  6. We are home today with our sixth snow day of the year, not to mention the numerous two hour delays. It's the coldest winter here in a century! I was talking with a friend in law school at Tulane about classes being cancelled for today, and I am reminded that at least we are prepared for the cold and snow. Enjoy your day off!

  8. Thank you, Ron! Thanks also to HKL Designs! I am so grateful ~ and can't wait to see the finished product.

Enjoy being home and warm on your "sneaux" day! Seems so weird for New Orleans to have this type weather. It's extremely cold here...winds are extreme. I feel so bad for those in the NE and Midwest with all that snow & low temps.

    Thanks again!

  10. Can't believe YOU have snow. I heard on the news that your area is "closed down" due to the weather. lol Oh-My- to have THAT kind of winter!

  11. I have heard rumors that teachers enjoy snow-days more than the children. So happy that you finally got one!!! xo

  12. Be glad you aren't in Atlanta. Traffic is a nightmare..what usually takes 20 min. is taking 5 hours. Some kids are having to stay at school overnight because everyone was leaving work and school and the roads are gridlocked. People running out of gasoline and leaving cars parked. What a mess! We went to the store this morning, but were home by noon before the snow started.
Stay warm and enjoy your sneaux day.

  13. can you believe this weather? my son, who lives in b'ham, said it took him 4 hours to go 10 miles from work to home...had to stop and pick up his kids then had to leave his vehicle at the entrance of his subdivision (all hills in b'ham)...started walking home and luckily someone gave them a ride! his wife left her office at 11:00 this morning and didn't get home until 7:30 tonight....good Lord! hope you get off tomorrow too...stay warm and safe!

  14. I'm glad your home safe and warm. I hope your plants survive this cold weather- as long as it doesn't last too long they should make it. Stay home- there is nothing worth going out for only to get stuck in some awful traffic jams.
