Laissez les bon temps rouler… Jesters {Mardi Gras 2014}

Jesters are a part of Mardi Gras like red beans are to rice. Historically, jesters were hired to entertain royalty.

The use of jesters as Mardi Gras decor is evident in many homes and shops at this time of year.

In my home, I have used jesters in many different ways throughout the years.

This year, there is a welcoming jester on the entrance table. He holds a feathery mask.

Another large jester is “holding court” on the central table in the stair parlor.

A smaller jester is used in a wreath in the courtyard, while a wooden one by Lorraine Gendron is on a wooden shelf sconce lining the stairway.

  2. Jesters are like clowns - without the spooky factor!
    Funny story, I once received a letter from a local official thanking me for my help with an event, and he said it was a nice "JESTER." . . . OMG!!!! I think it was his assistant that wrote the letter, but I almost died with laughter!!!!

  9. Those are so fun. I especially like the presentation of the one on the entry hall table. With the beads in hand he says it all!

  10. The jesters are amusing Ron. Love how you "trapped" one under the choche The wreath is so festive with the purple, gold and green and , of course, a jester to top it off. I have liked Party Express, your FB page and theirs.
