Vintage Pharmacy Bottles

I love the look of vintage bottles, and the pharmacy ones are some of my faves.

I recently found a new one on my jaunt to DOP Antiques for only $20.00. It is a perfect addition to my growing collection.

Once filled with colorful tinctures and remedies, bottles like these lined the shelves of European apothecaries in the 19th century. They've since found new purpose in the bath or other areas of the home. I display my collection on the secretary in the parlor.

My favorite are the amber-colored ones, but I do have a couple of transparent ones too.

  1. Love the vignette on the secretary with the vintage apothecary bottles. I, too, like the amber-colored ones. I used to collect Santas, but I don't anymore. Ran out of room to put them. Anyway, have a good day! xoxo

  2. Love your collection of bottles. I collect vintage electric fans and seashells. I also started a Baby Ben & Big Ben Westclox clock collection for my little one, Ben. They are mostly from the 1900s-1950s. The very first one I bought Ben got a hold of it and broke the glass face and pulled the hands off! I was so shocked...the clock had made it 80+ years only to be damaged by my then 2 year old in a matter of an hour. Now his collection is out of his reach. I would also like to start a collection of vintage boater hats.

    Have a great Friday!!!

  3. Charming, as always. This reminds me, I've always wanted to tour the pharmacy museum in New Orleans. Is it any good?
You should keep Sweet Tarts in your bottles and when visitors come by, take a few and pop them in your mouth!

  4. I love those old bottles. They can be quite pricey, so you found one for a very good price! I like the brown ones that you're using in your décor.

  5. Ron, very cool collection! Love how you display them on the secretary. I ordered my birthday 'Cafe du Monde' mini from Jax yesterday! Can't wait to get it and then ponder my next mini from her!
