I’m Thankful for….

Thanksgiving is always a special day. It is a great day of family and friend time.

The day was made even more special with this new guy in our lives, John David. He is so small and precious. I could eat him up.

If you brave the crowds today, good luck!

Thanks, y’all!

Strolling along Magazine Street {Shaun Smith Home}

Recently, I shared with my instagram followers a photo of a Shaun Smith Home purchase. What was in that elegant bag? I will share the purchase with you today.
package
I wish I would have had my camera to do an adequate blog post on the stylish shop, Shaun Smith Home. I promise I will go back soon, and spend quality time perusing the shelves and displays.

It is no secret that I love vintage medicine/apothecary bottles, so when I spotted some on Shaun Smith Home’s instagram I bee lined it to the shop. I have never before seen vintage bottles with metal green tops. Green is my favorite color, so I knew these were perfect for my home. They will look great in the den.

For now, the bottles ended up on an original dk clay oyster cake stand in the dining room. The vignette is very organic, and as you can see, I’ve begun to decorate for the Christmas season.

Welcome John David Pearce!

The family was blessed yesterday with the birth of my second godson, John David Pearce. At a healthy 6 lbs. 13 oz., John David was born to my cousin Laurie and her husband Charlie “Chuck”. Proud older sister Lucy will certainly spoil him with love. I’m sure that she is already treating him like her newest baby doll.

3 boys and 1 girl, Lucy will still be our “princess”.

I cannot wait to meet the little rascal on Thursday. Paran Ron is coming to spoil you.

He even donned a Saints onesie for the game last night though it did not seem to help.

He is already practicing the “tanning position” like his Paran Ron. Grand Isle better get ready for another beach babe. Give ‘em many years, and there just may be a can of Miller Lite in that hand.

  • 1 lb. cooked chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 small bell peppers, red and yellow, seeded and diced
  • 1 bunch chopped green onions, divided
  • 2 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 cup blue cheese dressing
  • 1/2-3/4 cup Buffalo hot wing sauce
  • 3 cups shredded cheese, divided (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)

Directions:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Boil the pasta in salted water according to package instructions. Drain and transfer to a 9 x 13” baking dish.
  • Add the cooked chicken, chopped bell peppers, 3/4 of the green onions, and 2 1/4 cups of shredded cheese to the baking dish. Mix well.
  • Place the garlic, cream cheese, blue cheese dressing, and 1/2 cup hot wing sauce in a food processor. Puree until smooth, taste, and add another 1/4 cup hot wing sauce if needed. Pour over pasta and toss.
  • Mix the remaining 3/4 cup of cheese and the Panko together. Sprinkle over the top of the pasta, then sprinkle with the remaining green onions.
  • Bake until golden, approx. 30-40 minutes.

This is comfort food at its best.

Happy Fall Y’all {Oyster Shell Wreath 2014}

The oyster shell wreath on the front porch has become such a fun way to transform the seasons.

wreath

This Fall, I added a large corn husk wreath around the grapevine. A check ribbon and two pheasants add to its Fall appeal.

It is always nice to transform a piece that you already own. It makes for easy transitions.

Have a great Friday!

Bird Pillow Obsession

Thanks to hometown artist, Lisa Papa for encouraging my obsession with Southern bird pillows.

I recently purchased a lumbar pillow from her and love its style and coloring.

pillow

Well? I did it again. I spotted this beaut on her facebook page a couple days ago and quickly placed my order. Lisa paints and constructs her own pillows. I have always known the talent of my friend, and I am glad she is sharing it with the rest of the world through facebook.

I cannot wait to pick this one up when I’m in town next week.

If you have not, please check out her facebook page: click HERE.
