Mamma Mia

Dancing Queen”. “The Winner Takes It All”. “S.O.S.”. I love them all. Last night, J & I attended opening night of Mamma Mia at the Saegner Theatre here in NOLA. Mamma Mia is one of my fave musicals. I loved the movie version too. I especially love how the songs from ABBA have been tied so smoothly into the story.

We started off with a couple cocktails and bites at Batch which is a bar located in the Hyatt French Quarter. It is a great spot to go to prior to the theatre as it is rarely over packed, and the walk to the theatre is only 3 blocks. BFFs Donald and Ellen joined us for the evening.

I had to do a double-take when I went to the restroom. This sign was outside one of the conference rooms. “Welcome Hookers”! LOL! As I peeked in, none of those ladies looked like “ladies of the night”. Most were busy constructing quilts.

The musical was really good. The cast was filled with great singers and actors.

Mamma Mia will be in New Orleans through Sunday, January 18. See it. You will not be disappointed.

We even ran into these two Ford cousins from Thibodaux.

  2. It sounds like you had a great evening! I've never seen that movie or musical before. I do love the Abba songs in it though. That's funny about the hooker sign.

  3. Good morning, Ron! I'm with you on this one--saw Mamma Mia in NYC when it first came out and loved it! Abba is from my generation, so I knew all the words to the songs. I also love the film version--have watched it numerous times. :) Going to have to try out Batch--putting it on my Pinterest restaurant board. Have a great day! xoxo

  11. Absolutely love Abba and put them on when I work out. To see the stage show would be almost as good as being Miss America.

  12. My mom, my sister and I went to see Mama Mia at the Saenger about a month before I got married, 12 years ago. We had dinner at Palace Cafe, stayed at the Ritz and went to the spa. It will forever be a memory I hold near to heart. Love this show and can't wait to take Camille in a few years! The winner takes it all!
