My Birthday Month continues…

How happy do you get when I come home to a large box on my front porch?

I get real happy!

If you follow me on instagram, I shared three beautifully wrapped gifts sent by my fave cousin Laurie and her family. She is always tardy for my special day, but that’s okay with me. The adage “better late than never” holds true. I could not wait to rip into each one.

Inside were custom accent pillows by Thibodaux, LA artist Lisa Papa. The martini pillow with “Cheers Y’all” is for me, and the red wine pillow with Cheers is for J. They are perfect in the breakfast room sitting on the accent chairs. The small size makes for a perfect chair pillow. The pillows are a great addition to my decor.

I also received a collection of Claire Burke Original scent assorted products from my godchild, John David. Ain’t he kind?

My Southern Style {K-Swiss for Billy Reid}

If you follow me on instagram, you know I have love wearing my newest K-Swiss snaekers for Billy Reid. I think the heavens opened when I saw them in the store recently. Do you remember K-Swiss???

One thing I love about Spring/Summer shoes is that they easily slip on and off.

I adore the ease of this shoe. No laces give these shoes a modern edge. No laces…YES!

Billy Reid’s collaboration with the Heritage American tennis shoe maker brings a new lineup this Spring, these with a unique convertible feature to mimic Billy's favorite way to wear his Surf & Court sneakers. Billy loves to step on the heel to slide them on, and I do too.

Characteristics of the shoe:

  • Convertible sewn-on leather heel
  • Canvas outer
  • Leather tongue pull tab
  • Heirloom ribbon inner lining with calfskin footbed
  • Laceless
  • Copper eyelets
  • Grooved rubber bottom

I was so impressed that I purchased two pairs from the Billy Reid on Magazine Street in Blue Surf and Turtledove Cinnamon. When I like something, I really do!

The Weekend That Was {The In-Laws}

J’s dad and stepmom arrived from Colorado on Friday evening, and it was a whirlwind weekend of eating, drinking, and touring. We could not have ordered more perfect weather.

On Friday night, we all dined at Clancy’s, one of our most fave Uptown restaurants. The food and the service are always top-notch.

Saturday was a rather busy day for us too. We began our day with brunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe on Magazine Street.

We then walked a few blocks to the Irish Channel for the Preservation Resource Center’s Annual Shotgun Home Tour. I shared some of the homes on tour with you yesterday-click HERE.

We stopped for a drink at Rendezvous Tavern on Magazine.

After the home show, we headed to Lakeview to tour my school. Jeff’s stepmom is a former teacher of 34 years and wanted to see the facility and gardens.

While in Lakeview, we dined on the lake at Brisbi’s. The cool breezes off the water made for an enjoyable experience.

Sunday morning, we headed to the Quarter for brunch at Muriel’s.

After brunch, we were treated to a walking architectural tour of the French Quarter. If anyone knows me, I detest guided tours, and I hardly paid any attention, but the in-laws, especially Wendy, were impressed.

We headed to Aquatic Gardens nursery and WWL-TV to show Jerry and Wendy J’s office.

Shotgun Home Tour {New Orleans}

The weather was absolutely picture perfect for today’s annual Preservation Resource Center’s Shotgun Home Tour. Today’s tour featured several homes off Washington Avenue in the Irish Channel neighborhood.

J & I love this annual tour every Spring. The walkability of the neighborhoods makes for an even more exciting tour.

Valorie Hart’s home was on the tour too. If you recall, Valorie authored the book House Proud of which J & I’s home is featured in Chapter 7.

Musings in March

It’s March 26, and my birthday month continues. This week, I received two special treats from friends. I love when packages arrive in the mail or a box is awaiting my arrival near the front door.

The first gift was from one of my best beach buds, Jenn! She knows me well and knows I need a great beach bag to carry all my paraphernalia.

The second “treat” is from my bestie Amanda of Dixie Delights. The two of us have been friends for such a long time.

A monogrammed Savannah, Georgia candle and Vineyard Vines- inspired notepad are perfectly me.

A student brought me a bag of my fave Reese’s peanut butter cups recently. Get them away before I eat every one of them.

Dry skin? I love Japanese Quince Hand Lotion.

Spring is upon us, and I am LOVING wearing my newest K-Swiss Keds from Billy Reid. Who remembers K-Swiss? I do!
