Acorn Dish

I am loving the Caskata dish I purchased at Watson Kennedy in Seattle. The dish features several gold-colored acorns, the French symbol for prosperity and perfect for the Uptown Acorn.

I love small plates like this as containers for curiosities as well as a place to display candles.

The zinc letters were found in Portland at Porch Light. I am having fun displaying my travel finds.

How is your summer?

Apothecary Jars and Fresh Blooms

Apothecary jars & fresh blooms! Yes! Both make me very happy.
I recently displayed three of my brown apothecary vessels on the entrance chest and added a bouquet of my favorite white lilies and green hydrangeas.

I cannot wait for the lilies to open up and fill the parlor with its intoxicating scent.

The newest apothecary jar is one of a pair I purchased on my recent trip to Seattle from Timothy De Clue Collection. I adore the vintage look of the jars, and each makes a great vessel for displaying seasonal blooms. The newest jars are a large 2500 mL and will make for great displays seasonally.

Jars and blooms, y'all!

Prayers for Lafayette

This is getting a little too close to home.

It is sad that you cannot even feel safe in a movie theater these days. The senseless tragedy that unfolded last evening in Lafayette (just two hours west of New Orleans) is beyond my comprehension. I do not understand how someone could senselessly take the lives of innocent people. Unbelievable!

Please pray for everyone involved.

Prayers for Lafayette, y'all!

Here's a few features from last weeks party...

I love hydrangeas, and the Hydrangeas at Cloches & Lavender look great in their first year.

The nautical anchor tote by Reduce, Reuse, Renewed is a great storage solution for any beach home.

Sunflowers signal the warmth and sunshine of summer. Check out Here Comes the Sun(flowers) at Everyday Living.

It is so HOT here back in NOLA that the Fresh Limeade from Life of a Southern Mom would be so refreshing.

Squid Shell Sculpture

The FedEx and UPS men have been quite busy around these parts as my goodies from my travels have started arriving. I am like a 5 year old on Christmas morning.

I visited some really cool shops in Seattle, Portland, Palm Springs, and Beverly Hills. Most of what I purchased was shipped from each store since I was traveling so much.

Today's find was purchased from the Seattle shop, Timothy De Clue Collection. The nautical nature of it really grabbed my attention. The pewter surrounding the shell makes for a unique object. The sculpture can stand (about 6" tall) or rest on its side.

I decided to use it atop a stack of my fave books on the den coffee table. I am certain he will move throughout the seasons.

What a fun find!

Beverly Hills, y'all

One of the highlights to my trip out West was a stop in Beverly Hills. As those of you who follow my blog know, I am quite the Bravo junkie. I especially love the Real Housewives series, and the ladies of Beverly Hills has been a fave of mine.

Lisa Vanderpump is my favorite housewife of Beverly Hills, so J & I dashed to her restaurant, Villa Blanca. The restaurant was exactly the style that I pictured. Full of plants, flowers, and antiqued mirrors, Villa Blanca is such a romantic place for lunch or dinner. I asked about the proprietor's whereabouts but was told that she and the cast were filming their next season in Hawaii. I recognized none of the servers from the series. Our waiter is the manager of PUMP, but we did not have time for a visit.

Lunch was very good. J & I shared the crispy calamari and the artichoke pizza. I sipped a rather tasteless Bloody Mary.

After lunch, we stalked Kyle Richard's shop KYLE by Alene too located right around the corner from Villa Blanca. Sadly Kyle and handsome husband Mauricio were not in the shop.

We then headed down Rodeo Drive. I felt a little like my fave Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman walking up and down the famous street. Expensive shops lined palm laden drive---- Gucci, Hermes, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, Jimmy Choo, Versace.... and many more!
I do not think I've ever seen so many Ferarris and Porsches in my life.

Exciting? Yes! And this is how I finished my trip out West.

Beverly Hills, y'all!
