Celebrating the Holiday with Friends

Last night, J & I headed to Thibodaux to visit with some lifelong as well as high school friends.

We met at Thibodaux fave, Flanagan's for drinks and ate dinner afterwards. The conversations were varied, and the laughter was infectious. My stomach is still hurting after all the laughs which continued at Claire's beautiful home afterwards.

Our friend "Nutty" said it best, "Had a ball last night! I love you all. And how wonderful to have great friends that even through it can be months and even years when we all get together we just pick like it was yesterday. We are so blessed to have each other." I agree. Yes, we are!!!!

Lifelong friends are always the best. #coinpurse #thibodauxsubway ..... the laughs went on and on.....

Cheers to Michelle! Monique! Nutty! Claire! Dionne! Colleen!Julie! We missed you, Margo! Love you girls.

Decking the Halls {with Hand-Painted Oyster Ornaments}

Each year, J & I add to our every growing collection of Southern-inspired ornaments. This year, I was happy to add several hand-painted oyster shell ornaments by artist, Cindy Lewis. You may remember her from an earlier post HERE.

Cindy Lewis is a fine arts artist. Living between New Orleans and Florida, she has done art restoration in France for museums as well is a master finish artist. She can do any finish from tortoise to malachite. Her love of fine art takes her to France as often as she can get there.

Her ornaments are available through AKA Stella Gray, a Magazine Street fave.

Decking the Halls {with Stockings}

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care.

I adore the newest cotton knit sweater stockings J & I purchased from the Ralph Lauren store on 5th Avenue. I had never seen these before, and I had to have them.

They blend in quite well with my Christmas den decor.

Decking the Halls {Christmas Cards}

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Our Christmas card, a Scriptura exclusive, features a jazz band playing on a street corner in the historic French Quarter. J & I love to listen to these groups while walking through the Quarter. Tanya & Dorise have become a fave of ours.

I love the sentiment:

"May you find
MERRIMENT ON EVERY CORNER
this Holiday Season"

Of course, I love to use music-inspired confetti in each one. It is a surprise when they are opened.

This year all of my Christmas cards were placed in a glass curiosity box on the coffee table. I love the organized look and ease of flipping through each.

Decking the Halls {with Plaid}

This year, I have seen lots and lots of plaid offered for Christmas. As a fan of plaid since birth, I loved coordinating different tartan plaids in my Christmas decor --- pillows, blankets, ribbons!

Plaid Pillows.
Thanks to Kris of Junk Chic Cottage and Marty of A Stroll Thru Life for locating and shipping me the great plaid pillows with fur trim. My blog friends are the best!

I love the plaid pillows with the embroidered antlers used in the parlor.

Two etsy plaid pillows, monogrammed of course, fit nicely on the master bed.

Plaid Bedding and Blanket in the master bedroom.

Plaid Plates.
Thanks to BFF Amanda of Dixie Delights for the monogrammed plates and to Liz of Infuse with Liz for finding the plaid dinner plates at her local TJ Maxx. Now, she is in search of the salad versions. Didn't I say blog friends are the best?

Plaid Tablecloth by Suzanne Kasler for Ballard Designs.

Plaid Frame.

Plaid ribbons.

Plaid gift wrap.

I have always loved plaid, and it works perfectly at this time of year.

I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas Eve.
