It is in Giving...

I am so proud when the youth today care about others. As a middle school teacher, I often witness youth thinking only about themselves (that's normal), so it is amazing when I can witness some stepping up to the plate and helping others.

Josh Gutierrez, a 7th grade student, has been growing his hair and collecting money to donate to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. On March 19, he will have his hair shaved in honor of those who have or have had childhood cancers.

Did you know that every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer? Or that most survivors of childhood cancer live with health problems-sometimes life-threatening ones-caused by the treatments that saved them?

Will you please help Josh reach his goal? Click HERE to donate. I am so very proud of this young man.

Your donation will support research to save lives, and to help survivors live longer, healthier lives.

St. Baldrick’s head-shaving events began as a challenge between businessmen and have grown from one event in 2000 to over 1,300 events in 2013, raising critical funds for childhood cancer research. Events take place in pubs, restaurants, schools, churches, parks, malls, military bases, firehouses and any other place you can imagine.

Way to geaux, Josh!

                         St. Baldrick's, y'all!

  2. This is great Ron. Having gone through childhood cancer with our daughter at age 4 I know all about this subject. Thankfully we experienced a good outcome though she has some lasting issues. In the end we thank God she's still with us. It's great to see fundraisers and participation with events like this. Every bit helps!

  3. So inspirational! Is the hair then used for wigs? Seems like I read about that somewhere.
