Au revoir, 4523 Perrier!

Today, J and I bid adieu to our home on Perrier. It was a great 10 years, and our first home together in New Orleans. We have had great times and made great memories. I am way too tired to miss 4523 Perrier, but I will miss the wonderful neighbors that we became so close to over the years. I hope the new occupants will treat her as well as we did (though she's expensive --- a $$$ pit).

Here's how our Perrier home looked today, our final walk-through.

Bye, Bye, Bye! Onto the next chapter, the Acorn Cottage.

Laissez les bon temps rouler {Mardi Gras Facade}

Yesterday, I shared the facade on Perrier at nighttime. Today, I'll show you how it looks during the day. I was glad I took these pics on Monday when the weather was sunny and warmer.

The colors of Mardi Gras are purple, green, and gold. Those of us who love Mardi Gras also appreciate and adore the three colors together.

Bunting hangs on the upper balconies and from the ceiling of the front porch. Buntings are definitely a classier way to decorate, and I feel that balconies scream for bunting.

Metallic garlands surround each doorway, and a comedy & tragedy papier mache' masks watch from the top.

A lighted wreath and orbs illuminate at night.

I love Mardi Gras, and I think it shows.

Laissez les bon temps rouler {Nighttime Facade}

I shared with you the new lights I added to the top balcony last week. Yes! They are perfect for the Mardi Gras season. I was able to finish the downstairs porch on Saturday, and here it is in its purple, green, and gold splendor.

Click on the video to see how the lights twinkle and glow at night.

I will share how the facade looks in the daytime tomorrow.

Happy Mardi Gras season!

Halloween Facade {Halloween 2017}

First of all, thanks for the concern. New Orleans was spared the worst of Hurricane Nate. Thanks for asking and for checking in with me.

Today, I'd like to share the facade of the home. This year I used a number of felt bats both downstairs on the porch and upstairs on the balcony.

In the doors, I once again used the Halloween-inspired streetcars by local artist Melissa Henry of Show Me the Door. Each door is surrounded by blackened branches filled with orange lights and flickering flame lights.

Black crows are perched in the transoms, on the window sills, and on the posts. The crow wreath is a new addition to the Halloween decor and is from Grandin Road.

Witches' legs come out of the urn.

Pumpkins from Hazel's Market fill the porch entrances.

The front garden features my favorite terra cotta pumpkin from Boxwoods in Atlanta and orange marigolds for the season.

Here's hoping you and yours have a SPOOKtacular October!

School Daze

It is hard to believe that the summer of 2017 is just about over. I report to school for teacher meetings  boredom on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The kiddos return on Thursday.

The school daze streetcar by New Orleans artist Melissa Henry of Show Me the Door went up on each front door on August 1.

Best of luck to fellow educators out there. Make it a great year!

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Perrier Street

Today is St. Patrick's Day. Celebrate! Cheers!
