Dixie Delights features Acorn Cottage Uptown

I love when my bestie is able to feature my home on her popular blog, Dixie Delights. If you do not already follow Ananda's blog, please give her some love. During her recent visit here for the Mardi Gras season, Amanda was able to take some shots around the home. Remember the house is donned in the spirited colors purple, green, and gold, the official colors of Mardi Gras. I hope you will enjoy this tour.

Let the Good Times Roll {A Dixie Belle and her Family}

I have been so excited this Mardi Gras season as my bestie from Atlanta, her hubby, and boys are in town for the season. Many of you know Amanda from her fabulous blog, Dixie Delights. She definitely has a gift for writing and for decorating. I have yet to meet anyone else with as much energy as herself. Of course, we are missing my other Dixie Belle, her sis Melanie, her hubby, and her kiddos. I like liked her blog too. LOL!!!!!

J and I were able to meet Amanda and Ward for dinner on Monday night at Mr. B's. I cannot wait to see them for upcoming parades. We may or may not have shopping plans along Magazine Street tomorrow. Hmmmmm?

EGGceptional Easter Tour

I am honored to join such a great group of bloggers in the Easter Tablescape Tour. Thanks, Nancy for inviting me over.

I love using the gold, gilded and speckled eggs in bowls and containers around the house. They are fun to use and are quite classier than some of the pastel shades.

I enjoy the Easter season and Spring Break so much. The temperatures warm, the leaves turn such a nice shade of green, and the flowers bloom. Being a teacher and being off for spring break makes the seasonal even better.

I am sharing some of my past Easter/Spring tabletops with you today:

I shared the above with my readers last week: click HERE.

Cheers to the Easter season!

If you do not follow Uptown Acorn, I'd love if you do. Hop to it!

What Makes Me Happy {Dixie Delights}

I am so happy to have one of my dearest friends joining me today for my newest series, What Makes Me Happy.

Hey yall! I'm Amanda from Dixie Delights and I was *delighted* when Ron asked me to be part of his new blog series aimed at sharing and spreading happiness. I mean, I knew I was in the minute I read the first line of his invitation. Here are a few things that make ME happy and brighten my days: Bright clothes - while my home doesn't stray far from blues, greens, tans and creams, I would barely recognize myself in those colors!! I adore everything pink, green, turquoise, aqua and orange and you'll find me most every day in a splashy print. Lilly Pulitzer is my very favorite and I pretty much never met a garment of hers that I didn't love.

A good candle - like Ron, I adore a good all encompassing candle scent. I rotate through all sorts of them throughout the year, but my mainstay is the Capri Blue Volcano Candle. For fun, I've been really loving the Disney inspired scents by Spireside Candles (10% off w/ this link!).

Fresh flowers - I love having a small arrangements of fresh flowers. It doesn't have to cost much at all, but it feels like a luxury!

Morning coffee - again, like Ron I start every single day with a good, flavorful cup of coffee loaded with cream. In fact, sometimes I go to bed at night already thinking about my coffee the next morning. Please tell me I'm not the only one :-) I keep a variety of Keurig flavors on hand with current faves being chocolate glazed donut by Donut House and the seasonal toasted marshmallow mocha by Green Mountain.

Funny napkins and miniature desserts - what did we do before funny napkins?! I hoard packages of them and love pulling them out. And every dessert tastes better in mini form. Besides, it doesn't feel like it actually counts when it's so tiny.

A clean house - Who's with me here? For me, there is nothing like having a spic and span home from top to bottom. I have become my Mother in that I am now the kind of person that cleans my way out of the house. I just love walking in and not only having everything in its place, but also having a freshly swept floor and flawless counter tops. Unfortunately, trying to clean with two boys in the house is like trying to brush your teeth while eating Oreos. HA! {Tour my den}

Family time - speaking of those two boys, I relish every second I get with my little family of four. Whether it's making dinner together, throwing a ball outside, cheering them on at a game, watching a movie in bed or taking a trip (especially a Disney trip!), I am never happier than when I'm with my people.

My bed - at the end of the day, there's no feeling quite as good as falling into my very own bed.... especially on the rare day that I actually made it up. That never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Before I go, I'd love to invite you to learn more about me and Dixie Delights HERE. Many thanks to Ron for having me!!! I look forward to reading the rest of this series as new guests come to share what makes them HaPpY!!

Thanks so much Amanda for sharing What Makes You Happy. Your visits make me happy, so plan a trip to NOLA soon.
