It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Nest candles. Though my favorite is Holiday, I love the scent of Hearth during November. It is a perfect Fall scent. This November, I am totally enjoying the autumn/winter fragrance by Nest.

The Hearth scent is from Laura Slatkin, an amazing candle designer.

I purchased the regular candle for the parlor and a larger one for the den.

A couple diffusers in the Hearth scent are scattered throughout the home.

Giving Thanks for ... {Simon of New Orleans}

Yet another "thumbs-up" for Hazelnut, one of my favorite shops on Magazine Street. 

This evening, Yvonne Spear Perret, author of Simon of New Orleans, and Simon (pronounced sih-MOH) Hardeveld himself were signing copies of Yvonne's newest coffee table book. It was really a treat to meet Simon and hear his French accent.

If you are a New Orleanian or visitor to New Orleans, you've seen the prevalence of his signs around town. His unique style is easily recognizable. His signs are bright, colorful, and cheerful.

One of Simon's most requested sayings, "Be Nice or Leave" is one of my favorites.

I still cannot believe that with all the iconic New Orleans products I own, I do not have a Simon piece. I may have to add one to my life very soon.

Giving Thanks for ... {My Work Anniversary}

November 15, 2010, a day I will always remember fondly as my very first day of teaching in a private school environment, St. Paul's Episcopal School, Lakeview.

I remember the day like yesterday. I was nervous yet excited to see what the new job entailed. I cannot believe that 7 years have flown by so fast.

I had resigned a couple weeks earlier from an awful job at a public charter school. I was too old for all of the foolishness that accompanies public education today - reports, reports, data, data, and more data. I was fortunate and somewhat lucky to have found St. Paul's. 

I have made many friendships here over the past 7 years and met many delightful students and parents.

Lord, I am fortunate to be here!
