Ocean Springs.....Shopping

Eating! Drinking! Shopping! These are three words that I adore so often. Today’s blog is a first hand account of many of the charming and delightful shoppes that Ocean Springs has to offer. I hope you get there soon to experience some great shopping that this unique coastal town has to offer.
Hillyer House
I am devoting an entire blog to Hillyer House tomorrow as this was my favorite shop along Washington Avenue. Hillyer House features hand-blown glass, sculpted pottery, watercolor art, and handcrafted jewelry all so tastefully done. I could have left with many items, but J & I left with a couple sea-inspired ceramic pieces. Here is a sneak peek at some of Hillyer House’s offerings:

Gina’s
Located on Washington Avenue, Gina’s is filled to the rafters with exciting home accessories. The one vignette that I was most impressed with was the weathered armoire filled with gorgeous sea fans, distinctive corals, fascinating shells, and more. I also loved the collection of pewter barware especially the heron wine stopper and crab claw bottle opener. The vintage grain sacks are a personal fav. I should have purchased one to use as a runner for my table. Oh well. I’ll have to go back soon.

Bernard Clark Antiques
Along Washington Avenue, Bernard Clark Antiques is a charming home turned antique gallery filled with fine furniture, jewelry, leather books, china, and accessories galore. I have always wanted to start a collection of silver domes but at $450.00 this one was way too pricey. Someday! I also loved the collection of vintage hurricane lamps. I wish I would have saved the ones we used during hurricane seasons as a child.

The Pink Rooster, A Gallery of Fine Art
The Pink Rooster art gallery is a must see. The gallery is filled with local artwork(many oils) that is some of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen. My favorites were by artist, Billy Solitario. I could have purchased his two oyster oils on the spot if the price tag would not have gotten in my way. One day?

Art & Soul
Strolling through Ocean Springs, Art & Soul is located on Government Street. It is another precious bungalow full of unique home accessories and stunning art. I loved the crab oils.

Poppy’s on Porter
Poppy's on Porter (located on Porter Avenue) is a wonderful shop filled with gifts, local art, and gourmet food items. Browsing in a relaxed environment and taste-testing samples of the delicious food and drink items will make you want to come back often to see what is new. Walking through the door, one of the cordial workers greeted us with a cup of Wine-A-Rita, a margarita mix made with Pinot Grigio (Ahhh, I was Ramotional!). It was delicious, so we left with the mix. That’s the way to market. The shop is filled with many great gifts and home accessories. I too loved the individual hammock swings and the collection of nautical pillows, napkins, and totes.

 Happy Shopping... Ocean Springs-style, y'all!

  2. Ocean Springs is one of my favorite places to shop. I have been to some of the shops you mentioned but my favorite is Realizations The Walter Anderson shop. I have many of his silk screened prints. My two favorites that I have hanging in my house are from the alphabet prints. I have the "K" King and the "Q" Queen. Your post makes me want to go spend a day of shopping there~
