Mardi Gras {Fresh Flowers}

I adore fresh flowers all year, but I especially love them at this time of year. The shades of purple, gold, and green make for a beautiful display.

I called upon my girls at Mitch's Flowers on Magazine Street for three small arrangements for the first weekend of Mardi Gras parades. After all, you never know who will be dropping by the Perrier house.

I picked up the glittery containers at The Plant Gallery last week. They are a perfect combo to the arrangements.

I love the use of citrus in any arrangement, but at this time of year it makes them even more special. Citrus trees are a Southern staple, and I'm all about the Southern way of life.

The Ibis Lamp

I have had an eye on the ibis lamp at Hazelnut for a couple years. It was WANT rather than NEED. But isn't it always how it goes?

It is no secret that I love Southern birds - egrets, cranes, pelicans, and more. The oils in my home are a testament to that. I just knew this lamp would look stunning in the front window of the parlor.

Finally, this past Christmas I received the coveted ibis lamp....."heavens open"!!!! I was so excited to add the lamp to my parlor.

This gold table lamp feature an ibis bird frame and black satin shade.

Believe me, you've never seen a table lamp like this. The frame is in the shape of an ibis - a long-legged wading bird. Where the finial would be is actually the bird's head, so it seems to be peeking above the black satin shade. The bird clasps a clear ball in its hand and stands on a clear base. It is truly a distinctive piece, an art piece for sure.

Features:
  • Bird-shape table lamp with gold finish.
  • Clear base.
  • Black satin drum shade.
  • Dimmer switch.
  • Takes one maximum 100 watt or equivalent bulb.
  • 35" high.
  • Shade is 14 1/2" wide.
The lamp is manufactured by Cyan Design.

You can special order your very own from a
Magazine Street fave, Hazelnut: HERE! But beware... in the words of J, "You had to ask for the most expensive lamp in the City." LOL! But I bet I can spot one even more $$$. Is that a dare?

Decking the Halls {Christmas Cards}

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Our Christmas card, a Scriptura exclusive, features a jazz band playing on a street corner in the historic French Quarter. J & I love to listen to these groups while walking through the Quarter. Tanya & Dorise have become a fave of ours.

I love the sentiment:

"May you find
MERRIMENT ON EVERY CORNER
this Holiday Season"

Of course, I love to use music-inspired confetti in each one. It is a surprise when they are opened.

This year all of my Christmas cards were placed in a glass curiosity box on the coffee table. I love the organized look and ease of flipping through each.

Streetcar Themed Papers {Scriptura}

I'm obsessed with the great new papers from Magazine Street fave Scriptura.

I have always had an issue with this niche in the breakfast room. The previous owners had a TV in that spot....no way!!!! Recently, I measured and had the pieces laminated at Kinko's for better durability. Glue dots hold the paper in place.

Since the streetcar is so iconic here in New Orleans, the streetcar themed paper fills the spot out perfectly. I use the niche to hold a favorite punch bowl and tray.

I now think I will have to paint the top part of the niche black too.

I am happy to have used the three newest papers exclusive to Scriptura.

Cocktails.

Southern motifs.

Streetcars.

Southern Papers {Scriptura}

I shared my love for the newest Scriptura wrapping papers exclusively designed for Scriptura. Click here for more.

I recently added a couple sheets to the back of the parlor secretary. I adore the Southern touch this adds to the secretary.

Southern-inspired images such as fireflies, bow ties, oysters, antlers, lemonade, magnolias, and more are perfect on the ecru background papers.

Original Oyster Art

Recently, I added a couple of handpainted 6" x 6" oyster paintings to my decor. I love the fluidity and the texture of each work of art. The gray background and blue-green patina-like sides are stunning, and the gold leaf adds elegance to the paintings.

Glass & Metal Display Case {AKA Stella Gray}

I have admired the glass and metal display case for a while as I shopped local fave, AKA Stella Gray. I finally bit the bullet and purchased it for display on the sofa table in the den.

The display case is a perfect size and will be such a joy for me to fill will many of my collected treasures seasonally.

Recently, I added a base of green reindeer moss, oyster shells, glass floats, and a sea fan. The ingredients are perfect for an end of summer show.

Make sure you stop by AKA Stella Gray when on Magazine Street.
