December at Acorn Cottage: Merry Christmas

 It is Christmas Day, and I am here to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope today finds you surrounded by the people you hold dear, enjoying the simple joys that make the season so meaningful.

Again this year, J and I made our way to our favorite Magazine Street stationery shoppe, Scriptura, to select our Christmas cards. Thoughtfully chosen and filled with shiny confetti, the cards we sent to friends and family were meant to deliver a little extra sparkle and holiday cheer through the mail. There is something so special about sending handwritten notes during this season—a small but heartfelt tradition we treasure.

Monogrammed gift tags and festive cocktail napkins added an extra layer of specialness to our celebrations, reminding me how the smallest details often make the biggest impact during the holidays.

Cheers to you and yours, and may your Christmas be merry, bright, and filled with love. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, y'all!

It's Looking A Lot Like Christmas {Christmas Cards}

 J and I headed to our local favorite, Scriptura, for our annual Christmas cards again this year. Yes! We do still sign and address our own. It is a small gesture, and we love sending and receiving cards each year. This year's card featured a peppermint martini with the slogan, "Cheers to the Holidays!" Perfect!

Christmas 2022 {Christmas Card}

Once again, J and I visted our friends at Scriptura for our annual Christmas card. This year, we selected "Peace on Earth" featuring the iconic St. Louis Cathedral. Filled with signature confetti, the card reads "Goodwill to all."

And how do you display all the cards you receive? I love to display ours on the magnolia and cedar garland which is draped around the built-in hutch outside the kitchen.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Deck the ... {Christmas Cards}

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I love to send personalized Christmas cards each year as it appears many folks have ceased this tradition. I love going to the mailbox each and every day during the Christmas season to open the Christmas cards. It is always an exciting experience.

Again this year, J and I headed to our local favorite, Scriptura on Magazine for our NOLA-inspired card. The addition of confetti is always a festive touch.

From Our Home to Yours {Christmas: It's a Wrap!}

The gifts are wrapped and ready to be delivered to family and friends. This season, I chose wrapping paper from Emily McCarthy of Savannah, GA. I adore the Southern-inspired look of the palm fronds and oyster shells in the traditional reds and greens.

From our Home to Yours {Scriptura Christmas cards}

All of my Christmas cards have been mailed, and I hope the glitter fell all over your floor. I love a greeting filled with glitter!

Again, J and I headed to Scriptura on Magazine Street for our annual Christmas cards. This year's version is classic, a NOLA-inspired mantlescape and festooned French mirror, Merry and Bright. It is perfectly New Orleans. And the stockings are hung by the fireplace with care.....

I am also enjoying using my newest return address stamp custom made by Natalie Kilgore of NattyMichellePaperie on etsy . She did an ink rendering of the Acorn Cottage and added the return address. I was very impressed with her professionalism. The stamp did take a while, but she did keep me informed throughout the process.

Wishing you a season filled with warmth and cheer!

'Tis the Season {Christmas Cards}

'Tis the season to be jolly.

Once again, J & I headed to Scriptura on Magazine Street for the perfect Christmas cards. Again, Scriptura did not disappoint. An Uptown cottage decorated in its Christmas splendor is a perfect way to send NOLA love to our friends and family.

It would not be a card from me if it did not contain confetti. The coordinating confetti was found online at Walmart of all places.

I love to send and receive Christmas cards. I hope it never goes out of style.

Heaux. Heaux. Heaux. {Christmas Cards}

Every season I head to Scriptura on Magazine Street for my Christmas cards. Scriptura has the best custom cards with a New Orleans twist.

This year, J & I chose the iconic New Orleans streetcar surrounded by banana leaf plants. I adore the gilded gold on the card too. It adds such a touch of elegance.

The inside reads:
"LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

now and in the new year"

I also love to add themed confetti and was lucky to find streetcar confetti on etsy from shop fluff. Who knew??? I love the recipients to get a little surprise when opening the card from J and I.

Cheers! J & I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.

Decking the Halls {Christmas Cards}

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Our Christmas card, a Scriptura exclusive, features a jazz band playing on a street corner in the historic French Quarter. J & I love to listen to these groups while walking through the Quarter. Tanya & Dorise have become a fave of ours.

I love the sentiment:

"May you find
MERRIMENT ON EVERY CORNER
this Holiday Season"

Of course, I love to use music-inspired confetti in each one. It is a surprise when they are opened.

This year all of my Christmas cards were placed in a glass curiosity box on the coffee table. I love the organized look and ease of flipping through each.

Thank You Very Much...

     Gratititude is a virtue I feel we all need to cultivate.

     Isn't it strange how the art of handwriting personal thank you notes is so passe' for so many individuals today?
     I admire friends, family, and aquaintances who take the extra time, ponder, and put thought to paper just to say a simple "thank you".

     I feel that a personal thank you note should be written on the following occasions:
  •  when you receive a gift
  •  when someone does something nice for you
  •  when someone stays in your home
  •  when someone cooks dinner for you
     I always keep nice stationery close at hand for these numerous occasions. Nice, often custom stationery is always a must-have at my home. Scriptura, a local stationery shoppe on historic Magazine Street, offers a distinctive array of stationery. I always make this unique shoppe my first stop for distinctive "thank you" notes. Adler's and Home & Garden are also great choices for local Alexa Pulitzer designed choices.

     Here are a few of my own favorites from my personal stationery collection.

     Gratitude does not have to cost very much. Sending a simple thank you note will mean so much to so many. Make it a habit to send a personal, handwritten thank you today.

Thank You, y'all !
