Merry, Merry! {Acorn Cottage: Living Room}

Come on in! It's the Christmas season, so I always believe more is more. There is never minimalism in my decorating. I just can't do it. I just don't like it!

In the living room, the colors of the season- red, green, gold, and silver - abound. The classic, traditional colors and scents whet my appetite the most during the holiday season.

Enjoy the sights of the season...

Sayings Southerners Use

I recently spotted this article on SL.com (Southern Living): click HERE for more.

I do not say all of these, but there are many I have used. Many of these sayings are part of our lexicon.

Which do you use most?

To Chop or Not to Chop, that is the question?

Help me out, y’all!
I recently read one of my favorite designer’s feature in the current Southern Living magazine entitled, “How do I arrange the pillows on my sofa?” I was a little shocked when Phoebe Howard wrote that she does not suggest chopping the pillows. Wow! I have done the karate chop for years. Is it passé? Am I out of style?
Then I saw a recent blogger’s friend blog, Savvy Southern Style, and Kim posed the same question.
Here are pictures of my newest den sofa pillows with the “chop” and without the “chop”:
To chop....

Or not to chop....

I really like my four newest coastal-inspired pillows by D.V. Kap Home purchased at Chic Chateau.

I still prefer the chop on my pillows, but what do you think? Comment below and let me know your thoughts.
Chop, chop y’all!
I am blogging now because I’ll be advising my Science Olympiad team at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond to compete in the State competition tomorrow. It will be a long day. Wish us luck. Geaux team!

Lazy, Rainy Southern Living Saturday

What a difference a week makes! From a beautiful FQF Weekend to a Saturday of gray skies and plenty of rain, what shall I do? I know! I am taking to the couch and going through the pages of the May issue of one of my favorite monthly mags, Southern Living.

From the striking cover of a fresh living room of corals, whites, and pinks to 10 Ways to use fresh gulf shrimp, the latest issue is another homerun.
Open this issue and look with me at my favorite features….
