Festival Fun {Door Hanger}

You are going to love these Festival-inspired door hangers by local artist Cynthia Kolls. These custom designed festival-inspired pieces look great on each door for the New Orleans festival season - French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, and more.

I am a sucker for detail, and Cynthia hit this one out of the park. The festival goers travel on the Canal Street red streetcar to the festival. The sides feature Jazz Fest flags, second line umbrellas, sunglasses, and even suntan oils.

You can always contact Cynthia through her etsy shop for your own custom door piece: Art by Cynthia Kolls

I cannot wait to get these on my doors later this week just in time for French Quarter Fest.

Will I see you at the Fest?

Festival season, y'all!

#tbt {French Quarter Fest}

It's #tbt and just in time for the French Quarter Festival in the historic French Quarter. French Quarter Fest is one of my favorite festivals of the year. Well, it used to be but has become way too crowded.

Let's throw it back to 2012.

BFFs Michael & Joey (from the ATL) and Richard (from San Fran) arrived yesterday. They will be staying with J & I through Sunday for French Quarter Festival.  I plan on taking in the sights and sounds of all that this year’s French Quarter Festival has to offer. I plan on eating, drinking, shopping, gossiping, dancing, and soaking some rays. And I plan on having lots of “parlor time” with my guests.
French Quarter Festival has become one of New Orleans premier festivals.

Here are some interesting facts about the FQF (http://www.fqfi.org/about.html ):
·        FQF celebrates its 29th anniversary in 2012
·        FQF was first produced in 1984 as a way of bringing residents back to the Quarter
·        FQF is the largest, FREE music festival in the South
·        18 or more stages throughout the Quarter celebrate local music and represent every genre
·        Attendance is well over 500,000 people
·        FQF has consistently been voted “favorite festival” by locals (and I agree)
Here are various pics from past FQFs:

Day 1..... 2012

Picture perfect blue skies added to an awesome Day 1 for me and my guests celebrating French Quarter Fest 2012. Cab rides, Mr. B's, Carousel Bar, Pat O's on the River, Quarter time, Riverfront, great music, great friends, and great drinks, my Day 1 of FQF was a fun one.

The Music.....

The Food.....

The Drinks... (and there were many!)

The People...

And look who we ran into.....

Day 2 ... 2012

More fun, food, drinks, friends, sunshine, and huge crowds greeted us on our Day 2 of French Quarter Fest.

We began our day at BFF Gary's house for pool time and grilled burgers. Check!

We headed down to the Quarter afterwards where we parked ourselves in a great spot in Jackson Square. The palms helped to shade us from the full effect of the sun. Thanks to the White's of Buckhead, Georgia for securing our "property. Drinks, drinks, drinks, food, and conversation passed the hours of a great afternoon.

We then dined at EAT restaurant. It is owned by none other than fellow Cardinal Jared Zeringue who hails from Vacherie, LA. As usual this French Quarter staple shined. The food was amazing.

We ended our Day 2 with a great fireworks show at the river.

Yes! I am tired (and so is Taunte Gary), but I have to go and fix brunch for 20 guests coming over shortly.

Happy French Quarter Fest, y'all!
