Decking the Halls, Parlor {Christmas 2012}

Come on in…

Welcome to the parlor decked in its Christmas best.

A drummer boy welcomes all on the entrance table.

The mantle at Christmas is one of my favorites. Real magnolia garland strung with mini white lights hangs from the lower mantle. Bows of red and gold stripe fill the corners with glittered berries and pomegranates.

The lower mantle houses my oyster trees purchased in Bay St. Louis along with a stately bronzed deer. Greens, glittered branches, and berries completes the vignettes. Stockings from Ballard Designs hang from the lower mantle.

The upper mantle holds my vintage trophy collection topped with red orbs and pomegranates. Amber-colored vintage labeled apothecary bottles blend perfectly with the trophy collection.

In the front corner of the parlor is a tall, thin faux fir tree placed in a black urn. The tree is decorated in mercury glass silvered acorns, glittery pomegranates, custom-made oyster ceramic ornaments, white antler ornaments, red & gold striped ribbon, and silver glitter branches. A vintage-style tree topper, bow, and glittered acorn branches fill the top of the tree.

The zinc-topped bistro side table houses two of my favorite glittered deer with mink collars.

Two Christmas books rests on an burlap-covered ottoman/foot stool.

The bench coffee table holds a tray with a large silver glittered moose wrapped in a mink collar and acorn ornaments.

A cloche covering a glittered Santa Claus rests on the sofa side table.

Two soldiers stand at attention in the alcoves between the parlor and stair parlor. I love these so much. I created small wreaths for each. They add just enough seasonal touch to each soldier.

Another side table holds a traveling Santa from Kurt Adler.

The crown chandelier houses a dozen glittered red orbs.

I hope you enjoyed this tour. More tours of my Christmas finery will continue soon.

Decking the parlor, y’all!

  1. Oh, Ron, you know how I've been waiting for you to open your front door and see how you have transformed your home for the Christmas season, and I am not disappointed. The parlor is so warm, cozy, and inviting--I would love nothing more than to sit in there with my oyster mug in hand and having coffee tawk with you! Of course, if it were the evening, I'd have to ditch the mug and coffee and have something a lot stronger! ;) No, seriously, it is Southern Living perfect--you have paid attention to every small detail. The mantle and tree are amazing. I haven't seen the rest of your home yet, but I bet the parlor will be my favorite! Have a great day! :)

  2. Ron- You do Christmas beautifully. And have a feeling you DO it and J ENJOYS it. Am I right? Everything looks gorgeous and I LOVE those Oyster trees. I have never seen them before- xo Diana

  3. Ron- it looks beautiful. I love the oyster trees and the magnolia garland best...we always had real magnolia garland growing up... Love the red orbs in the chandelier, too! Gorgeous!!!

  10. Ron, I knew your home would be beautifully decorated for Christmas and you did not disappoint. Everything is gorgeous and I am in love with the oyster shell trees and ornaments. Thank you for sharing your Christmas decor at the Open House party.

  11. Ron your parlor looks gorgeous all dressed in it's Christmas best!!
    LOVE your mantel!!

  12. Everything looks so pretty! I am a new follower. I'd love it if you followed me back as well! :)

  13. Ron,

Been enjoying your Christmas home tour!!!!!!!!

Love love love the deer and moose with the fur collars. Where did you find them? I'd love them for my cabin in northern Michigan, which has a hunt lodge decor for Christmas.

I'm at the cabin now and we have several inches of snow so the woods look beautiful and so Christmasy (is that a word?, in my world it is).

  14. Your home is always gorgeous, but especially at Christmas! Love the mantel, the oyster shell trees, and the toy soldiers!

  15. Ron, Elegant, just as I expected it would be. If the crown chandelier disappears, well, it will be on it's way to Savannah. Sorry about that visual of me on a ladder taking it down.
The mantel is glorious and I love the wealth touch to the soldiers. The deer in your place have it good...mink collars. We shoot their butts with bbs here. Not, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
OK, I am moving along and I promise not to touch anything. Love to you and J, Ginger
