Laissez les bon temps rouler…Mardi Gras Toile, New Orleans {Mardi Gras 2014}

I have never been a huge fan of toile except for the New Orleans toile exclusive to Hazelnut and possibly a hunt scene toile. I have grown to appreciate toile much more. I use the New Orleans toile in the kitchen and have a great hunt scene toile round cloth on the breakfast table in my favorite color, apple green.

Recently, I ran into Judy at the Rink, a local favorite Garden District shop to pick up a gift. To my surprise, there was an announcement that Mobile designer Jennifer Grehan would be in later in the week with her Mardi Gras toile products. I looked at samples and was impressed. Like Hazelnut, I couldn’t understand why someone had not thought of it earlier.

Mardi Gras toile is the brainchild of Jennifer Grehan who also designed Mobile toile which is actually the birthplace of the modern Mardi Gras.

I went back to Judy at the Rink later in the week to meet the designer and purchase a few of her Mardi Gras toile products. Jennifer was extremely pleasant in person.

  1. HI Ron! Oh, I love toile and had no idea there were newer prints. The Mardi Gras is gorgeous and really looks antique, doesn't it? I see you found lots of pretties to put in you home too. You live in New Orleans? We love New Orleans! Haven't been in about 5 years but would love to come again. Thank you so much for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)
