In the Courtyard {Ferns}

Yesterday, I spent much of my first day of Spring Break in my yard planting, pruning, and cleaning.

This year I decided to plant ferns in the various pots in the courtyard since the area gets minimal sunlight.

In 4 wall baskets, I planted varieties of bird’s nest ferns, variegated English ivy, and White Christmas caladium bulbs.

Along the pond, pots were also planted with various ferns. I love the way the green pops in the backyard.

I love ferns as they are so easy to grow. I usually fertilize once a week with Miracle Grow plant food.

Do use ferns in your landscape?

Off to eat at the Lake later today!

  6. Pretty! Ferns used to grow wild through the bricks in my backyard down the street. I'm giving a hanging basket a try here in a shaded area. Wish me luck! Happy Spring Break!

  8. Love the ferns! I have a wooded backyard in ATL and they grow well, but I haven't gotten any yet since we had freezing temps overnight this week. Enjoy the reast of your Spring break!

  11. Gorgeous! Loving all the lush green. Unfortunatley, our cold winter got most of our perennial ferns near our pond and most recently our newly planted veggies and basil! Will be planting more however. Rainy here. Enjoy your day at the lake.

  12. I love ferns. I haven't bought mine for the front porch yet since it has been raining and cold, but the weather is supposed to get much better tomorrow! Yours look great hung in baskets on the wall. I bet you enjoy sitting outside amongst all your plants sipping on wine or a cocktail.

  16. Just beautiful! Please show more photos after they've grown awhile. I love ferns but they just don't like living at my house. Not sure what I do wrong...or don't do right. :) Your backyard looks so lush and green and you certainly have the temps & humidity to help things along.
