My Thanksgiving Vignettes

I was stoked to receive an invitation to participate in the Thanksgiving Vignettes blog hop. I have followed Sherry at No Minimalist Here since my very beginnings and have loved her style. She has not only been an inspiration for me but has supported my little blog along the way. I am honored to share my Thanksgiving vignettes/decor with you today.

Vignettes

I hope you will grab your coffee, relax, and enjoy the “show”.

My oyster wreath on the facade of my home makes a seasonal statement. I added a corn husk wreath to the outside of it and two pheasants. A check ribbon adds to the autumnal feel.

On the front doors of my home are two large hand painted acorns. These were created by Melissa Henry of Show Me the Door. Pumpkins in urns and on the floor welcome all to my home.

In the parlor, the entry chest holds a large ceramic bird. J and I have dubbed him Tom the Turkey. Because we have no pets, he is our pet of the month. A Vagabond House acorn & leaf dish holds a Cire Trudon candle.

The mantle is always the perfect place to display a lovely Thanksgiving vignette. This season, I kept the deign rather simple for me. My English oak bowl holds antlers, gold-leafed pumpkins, and a pheasant. Two mercury glass pumpkins sit atop vintage leather-bounds books.

On a zinc-topped side table, a wheat bunch rests under a favorite cloche, and a lone silvered pumpkin rests on bone-topped boxes.

The secretary features a vintage turkey plate.

In the niches that lead to the stair parlor rests two cream pumpkins. I gold leafed the stem a while back. Two custom RJ monograms by Number Four Eleven add a touch of class. Thanks to Tricia of HKL Designs for the labels. I am so glad I have found her.

In the stair parlor, my center arrangement received a Fall facelift with the addition of bittersweet, oak/acorn branches, and fall leaves. I love its presence in the large, vintage trophy cup. An antique chair holds a pheasant needlepoint pillow.

Along the stairway, the concrete clam shell holds rustic acorns and another seasonal pheasant.

In the dining room, my large dough bowl is filled with boxwood spheres, turtle shells, antlers, and realistic acorns. I am having so much fun using the dough bowl that J & I picked up in Fairhope, AL in March.

On the buffet, my favorite oyster shell topped tureen sits atop a Vagabond House antler-handled serving tray. Acorns and leaves fill the perimeter.

On the French-styled baker shelves, pumpkins rest in my large Alison Evans clam shell.

More pumpkins and acorns sit in the Alison Evans oyster coffee table bowl. A cornucopia candle sits atop an acorn/oakleaf Vagabond House candle holder.

The third shelf holds dishes topped with another ceramic pumpkin. Pheasant feathers fill a wine vessel.

In the den, my fave deer head pillows from Amelia Island’s The Plantation Shop are wonderful for the season. The color green blends well with the decor.

On the coffee table, an Oysteria bowl holds pumpkins and acorns.

Chairs hold SK MacKenzie plaid pillows monogrammed in J & I’s initials.

In the breakfast room, an oak pedestal holds a large ceramic pumpkin. I also love the new table cloth by Suzanne Kasler for Ballard Designs----more on that later.

  3. Ron, this is so beauty-FULL! I am on visual overload (in a very good way), and I don't even know where to begin complimenting you. I love that you pointed out so many of the details, otherwise it would be easy to overlook things. That leaf on the table in the breakfast room, your custom monogram, the oyster wreath, all of the textiles - love! Thanks for sharing.

  21. Hi Ron - I always love touring your home and your Thanksgiving decor is over the top fabulous! Everything is wonderful but I was drawn in by your oyster shell wreath, then your dough bowl filled with goodness and finally those deer pillows . . . I want some! I love that your home has a lot of rich colors and isn't all neutrals like so many other bloggers right now. Thanks for sharing your space and inspiring others. Blessings, Patti

  26. I'm so excited to have discovered your blog via Dixie Delights (love Amanda's blog too) & spent the majority of Monday reading past posts (sorry kids & hubby for a lackluster dinner that night)! You have a beautiful home & style. If I may, I too am looking at SK's blue/green plaid pillows & was wondering if the yellow or cream thread would be best for my monogram. (It appears to lean more yellow, but since I haven't seen the pillows in person, I'd love your input). Thanks so much, looking forward to more beautiful upcoming posts!

  30. Just gorgeous! You always have such a beautiful home and I enjoy looking at it! I was so heartbroken when I saw the condition of your Atlanta home. We have had the same thing happen to us at our first home and it's so hard to see it not being loved. Thanks for sharing :)
