The Weekend That Was {March 21-22}

We are back home soaking up the last minute beauty of this weekend. We continued celebrating my March birthday with a trip to the coast, Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian, MS.

We had hoped to stay in Bay St. Louis but when J called for reservations, the Bay Town Inn was all booked for this weekend. The nice lady suggested the Historic Blue Rose Mansion in Pass Christian. We are so happy because we absolutely loved our stay at the Mansion on the coast.

The Historic Blue Rose Mansion is touted as “a four million dollar mansion circa-1848 with rare American and European furnishings with a staff that specializes in All-Inclusive wedding packages.” No! J & I did not get hitched.

This past January, the Blue Rose opened their rooms to the public as a Bed & Breakfast. With five luxury suites available, you are sure to find a wonderful place to stay for a vacation, a weekend getaway, or other event.

Our accommodations were perfect. Once we arrived for check-in, one of the homes owners Herb greeted us at the door. He is one of the friendliest host in any Bed & Breakfast we have stayed. After a brief house tour, we were shown our room, the Imperial Suite. The room was quite opulent and decadent. It was very spacious. The suite had its own exterior entrance to the wrap around porch overlooking the Gulf. The owners describe the suite as “The Imperial Suite has all the amenities you will need for a luxurious stay on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. You will find all the comforts of home, in an immaculate, beautifully-designed room filled with gorgeous antiques and magnificent furniture and decor.”

If you are ever looking for a place to stay on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I highly recommend the Historic Blue Rose Mansion. J & I will be back.

Across the street is a great restaurant, Bacchus on the Beach and bar, SeerSucker Bar. We had afternoon drinks on the deck overlooking the Gulf and returned for dinner. The drinks and food were absolutely delicious, and we simply had to cross the street to our room.

This morning, the hosts Herb & Wesley prepared breakfast for us in the ballroom. A breakfast of sausage and pepper breakfast casserole, cheese grits, biscuits, fruit, coffee, and juice were the perfect end to our fab stay at the Blue Rose Mansion.

J & I ended our weekend get-away with some retail therapy at the Gulfport Premium Outlets- J. Crew, Nike, Polo, Banana Republic, LaCoste, Gap.

The weekend is winding down, but it was a great one. Thanks J for another great birthday month.

  8. I'm looking at the pictures and actually quite jealous. We are in Connecticut and actually had snow on the first day of Spring (and the second day). I cannot wait until we get weather like yours. Happy belated birthday.
