What Makes Me Happy {Dixie Delights}

I am so happy to have one of my dearest friends joining me today for my newest series, What Makes Me Happy.

Hey yall! I'm Amanda from Dixie Delights and I was *delighted* when Ron asked me to be part of his new blog series aimed at sharing and spreading happiness. I mean, I knew I was in the minute I read the first line of his invitation. Here are a few things that make ME happy and brighten my days: Bright clothes - while my home doesn't stray far from blues, greens, tans and creams, I would barely recognize myself in those colors!! I adore everything pink, green, turquoise, aqua and orange and you'll find me most every day in a splashy print. Lilly Pulitzer is my very favorite and I pretty much never met a garment of hers that I didn't love.

A good candle - like Ron, I adore a good all encompassing candle scent. I rotate through all sorts of them throughout the year, but my mainstay is the Capri Blue Volcano Candle. For fun, I've been really loving the Disney inspired scents by Spireside Candles (10% off w/ this link!).

Fresh flowers - I love having a small arrangements of fresh flowers. It doesn't have to cost much at all, but it feels like a luxury!

Morning coffee - again, like Ron I start every single day with a good, flavorful cup of coffee loaded with cream. In fact, sometimes I go to bed at night already thinking about my coffee the next morning. Please tell me I'm not the only one :-) I keep a variety of Keurig flavors on hand with current faves being chocolate glazed donut by Donut House and the seasonal toasted marshmallow mocha by Green Mountain.

Funny napkins and miniature desserts - what did we do before funny napkins?! I hoard packages of them and love pulling them out. And every dessert tastes better in mini form. Besides, it doesn't feel like it actually counts when it's so tiny.

A clean house - Who's with me here? For me, there is nothing like having a spic and span home from top to bottom. I have become my Mother in that I am now the kind of person that cleans my way out of the house. I just love walking in and not only having everything in its place, but also having a freshly swept floor and flawless counter tops. Unfortunately, trying to clean with two boys in the house is like trying to brush your teeth while eating Oreos. HA! {Tour my den}

Family time - speaking of those two boys, I relish every second I get with my little family of four. Whether it's making dinner together, throwing a ball outside, cheering them on at a game, watching a movie in bed or taking a trip (especially a Disney trip!), I am never happier than when I'm with my people.

My bed - at the end of the day, there's no feeling quite as good as falling into my very own bed.... especially on the rare day that I actually made it up. That never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Before I go, I'd love to invite you to learn more about me and Dixie Delights HERE. Many thanks to Ron for having me!!! I look forward to reading the rest of this series as new guests come to share what makes them HaPpY!!

Thanks so much Amanda for sharing What Makes You Happy. Your visits make me happy, so plan a trip to NOLA soon.

What Makes Me Happy, y'all!

  1. Great post, Amanda! Too funny - I am a funny napkin hoarder as well. I just can't resist them. I have a pile in my kitchen drawer and I usually bring some along with a hostess gift to go along with the occasion. I also clean my house before I leave. My husband wonders why it takes me so long to get ready for a shore trip or a Vermont weekend but I have to leave the house clean for when we get home. Fun post - thanks to Ron for setting this many reasons to be happy!

  2. Amanda is so cute and I always love seeing her boys, which are a miniature version of my two teens! Thanks for the happy-happy!

  3. Never tire of hearing from Amanda! Just adore her and her style. She is as genuine as they come. Love learning about all the things that make her HAPPY.

  4. I am the same way about about a clean house. But, I have to have my kitchen counters de-cluttered, my living room neat and my study straight before I ever go to bed. It makes for a much more peaceful and less chaotic morning when I climb out of bed and walk into a tidy room.

  5. Great post this morning, Amanda! I adore your home and all the things that make you happy. I see you have an oyster coffee mug--I do, too, thanks to Ron. Have a great day! xoxo

  6. Thanks Ron for introducing me to Amanda. I am heading over to her blog now. What a sweet family. Love her style.

  7. Oh that coffee mug and yes coffee in the morning dreamed about the night before!

  8. Love this post. She is one of my favorite bloggers too, so happy to see her here.

  9. I pretty much agree with everything she listed! I always make sure that my house is spotless before we leave for vacation because there's nothing worse than coming home to a dirty house!

  10. Oh yes I do go to bed dreaming of my morning coffee! Nice to learn a little more about Amanda. :)

  11. What a fun and cheerful post! A good cup of coffee is a wonderful way to start the day! I'm laughing about having kids and trying to keep the home clean and the reference to brushing your teeth with Oreos! Thanks for sharing these thoughts about what makes you happy!

  12. Amanda I love your fun list and am with you on the coffee.....smelling the pot brewing is what puts my feet on the ground first thing every morning! And I clean my way out of the house too, so funny!
