GALA {Paint the Town Green}

Our school's annual gala, Paint the Town Green, is tomorrow night. It is always a fun event especially when teachers and parents are a lil tipsy.

This year, the 7th graders created bottle cap art work for the gala auction. Each bid begins at $150.00 for Monsieur Baleine (whale, inspired by Vineyard Vines) and Monsieur Crabe. If you feel the need to bid, click HERE or HERE
Sidenote: No! I did not drink all of the beer. One of my student's family owns a string of bars and restaurants in New Orleans --- the Bulldog, The Velvet Cactus, Lager's.

In keeping with the 7th grade assembly theme, which is centered around the reading of The Cajun Night Before Christmas, the  seventh graders have chosen a somewhat Louisiana-inspired gala project. The students have created decorative wall hangings in the form of a whale and a crab that are embellished with bottle caps. Their creations have affectionately been named Monsieur Baleine and Monsieur Crabe, the French names for these two water creatures.  The students are also writing a piece of short fiction that tells the story of how Mr. Whale came to live in Grand Isle and befriend Mr. Crab, and a framed copy of the written piece will accompany the gala project.

You can also look at all other available class projects and auction items.

The theme, Paint the Town Green, is to pay tribute to St. Paul's school celebrating the 55th year of educating the youth of New Orleans. The emerald represents the 55th anniversary.

Think GREEN Emerald, y'all!
