Uptown Acorn Travels {Northshore}

Yesterday, J & I headed away from the hustle and bustle of New Orleans and travelled 30 minutes across the Lake to the Northshore.

Our first stop in Mandeville was lunch at The Lake House located on Lakeshore Drive. The views from the front porch second floor balcony are breathtaking. J & I had a couple cocktails, a wonderful appetizer of fried green tomatoes, and shrimp tacos. Delicious and the view was amazing.

We then did some retail therapy. The Northshore is also known for their quaint shops and restaurants.

Niche Modern Home in Mandeville is filled to the brim with home furnishings, accessories, and fine gifts. There is something for everyone in this well-appointed shop.

NICHE, [neesh]

  •  a modern home furnishings store with an emphasis on smart design at affordable prices.
  • a store to find the perfect hostess gift, amazing original artwork, or that smart accent chair for your living room.
  •  a store providing assistance in helping you find your niche in home decorating and design
Our next destination took us a short distance north to Covington.

In the heart of downtown Covington, The French Mix by Jennifer DiCerbo is a feast for the eyes. A renovated, old home featuring many design options - furniture, fabrics, artwork, rugs, and accessories.

Just a few homes down, History {Antiques & Interiors} is filled with antiques of all kinds set in beautiful vignettes.

History Antiques and Interiors began in the Fall of 2012 as a unique antique and interiors shop. History told through the story of people and their homes, customs, and traditions is fascinating. Beautiful porcelains, art work, silver, rugs and furniture all have a story to tell!

On the way home, we stopped at Greige.

Greige Home Interiors offers the very best in custom, classic furnishings, all showcased in a relaxed and comfortable 20,000 sq ft showroom. Greige specializes in interior design, remodeling, floor plans,custom furnishings and original art.

It is always fun to get away if only for a day.

Discover Northshore, y'all!

  5. The Northshore does have exciting restaurants and shops. It is not New Orleans, but it is all good.

  6. You and J had a fab weekend! It is so hard to get really good fried green tomatoes in a restaurant. Your drinks look so good. I found several things I would like in the store. Yeah, what did you buy? xoxo
