The Acorn Cottage {Landscape}

No good house renovation is complete without a landscape plan. For this, I called upon Chase's Landscape Services after seeing his work in the neighborhood and on instagram. Chase's use of local plants into his designs are what attracted me first. I met with Chase, the owner, a couple weeks ago, so that he could get my preferences for plants, and he could take photographs and measurements. I want formal plantings of boxwoods lining the walkways as well as confederate jasmine in a x-pattern on the fence. In the planting "zones", I'd like seasonally color as well as a place or two for annuals. This is how the yard looks today.

Last Thursday, J & I met with Chase and his wife Victoria where the plan was unveiled. (I felt as though I was on an episode of Landscaper's Challenge.) OMG!!! And what a magnificent plan it is! Chase took my ideas and showed me in picture-form exactly what the yard will look like from different angles. I love this use of technology. We made just a couple tweaks and scheduled the install for September 27-28. Personally, I cannot wait for the landscape because it will tie the front of the house all together.

Here is what Chase proposed:

Weather-permitting today, the awnings on the front and rear should be installed. Tomorrow, I am told that the Bevolo gas lamp and front door will be installed. I am looking forward to see the changes taking shape and making the Acorn Cottage the cottage we dreamed of in Uptown New Orleans. Stay tuned!

Progress in Landscapes, y'all!

  2. I especially love the Confederate jasmine in the "X" design for the fence. Love the design and I was wondering if you would be getting a irrigation system installed as well?
