#tbt {Mardi Gras: Green Acres is the place to be}

 It has been a while since I have made a pass at Green Acres in my hometown of Thibodaux, but the local nursery and gift shop is widely known for the beautiful seasonal decor including wreaths and arrangements. This post first appeared in February of 2012. Enjoy!

My next stop on my tour of Thibodaux shops is a plant nursery and decoration wonderland. Green Acres Nursery & Gift Shop is always a must-stop on my list. It has been for decades.

Front facade

     Opened in 1974 owner Dennis Bahyi stocks the nursery with an abundance of healthy plants and the best selection of seasonal decor and gifts around.
     Green Acres has also become part of my family's Thanksgiving afternoon tradition. I cannot wait to see what's new and available for the holiday season. And I never leave empty handed. The ornaments, garlands, and ribbons are unique!
     Designer Connie Barbera creates custom wreaths, swags, door badges, garlands, and centerpieces. Her work is some of the best around. Her designs are full, well balanced, and always creative.
     On my recent visit, Green Acres was filled to the rafters in purple, green, and gold decor. Mardi Gras decor is popular in these parts, and Green Acres certainly delivers the goods- whimsical jesters, masks, garlands, ornaments, and one-of-a-kind ribbon. CB has created unique wreaths, fanciful garlands, and spirited arrangements.
     I could not resist this large paper mache' mask that will hand proudly (overlooking the bar in my home) awaiting my many Mardi Gras guests.

     Grab your cup of java, kick up your feet, and enjoy my recent tour of Green Acres Nursery & Gift Shop (located at 731 Cardinal Drive, Thibodaux)...

I love these door badges!

     There was even a section dedicated to Spring decor---bunnies, eggs, flowers, and more!
