50 Things You'd Recognize... maybe?

I've been in education for 30 years, so I thought you teachers (and regular folk) would appreciate this article:

I do recognize many of these things, but in my 30 years, I have not used all of them. I do, however, remember many of these as a students myself.

By the way, I still use a gradebook today. Yes! Our grades are all posted to the computer, but I have always liked a hard copy. I guess I am still a lil "old-schooled".

Things of the past for sure: chalk, chalk holders (I LOVED mine.), overhead projectors, TV/VCR cart (Didn't you love when a teacher rolled this in?), Ditto machines (the smell), Dot Matrix printers (I can still hear that sound.)

Recognize These, y'all?

  1. Yes,I do...from both my student days and my teaching days. I also always kept a paper grade book just for back up! Thanks for the blast from the past!

  3. What a blast from the past! I must be really old because we had mimeograph machines but I don't remember ditto machines. So many of these I can remember the nuns having, lol. I guess our parents' tuition money was well spent on the high tech gear of the day.

  6. Oh, how fun....the ditto machine was my friend. I was an advanced child and so easily bored in the 1950's and
I often ran errands and ran off copies for all my teachers. The smell....was a high, I'm sure. And, it did keep me out of trouble. I remember all the items you showed in your post, tools of the trade. Where would we be without great teachers!
