One of the finishing touches to J’s bathroom renovation has just arrived — and it couldn’t be more perfect. The custom artwork, created by New Orleans artist Rayne Housey Bories, now graces the space. I’ve admired Rayne’s work for years and have slowly built a little collection of her pieces, so it felt especially meaningful to commission something for this project.
For the bathroom, I wanted artwork that felt light, delicate, and tied to the Southern character I love. Rayne captured that beautifully with two subjects close to my heart: a roseate spoonbill and a dainty ladybug. The spoonbill is one of my favorite Southern birds, and its soft hues look stunning against the faint pink walls. The ladybug adds just the right touch of charm and whimsy.
These thoughtful details truly elevate the space. Beyond being a renovation, the bathroom now feels personal — layered with art that carries a story and connection. It’s a reminder of why I always love incorporating local artists into my home projects.

Custom Artwork, y'all!
It's beautiful, Ron. We have something that looks like ladybugs here but are Asian Lady Beetles and they are awful. I love REAL ladybugs, though. The artwork of the spoonbill is beautiful, too. You did a grand job. xo Diana
