Mardi Gras 2024 {Acorn Cottage: Disco ball Door Hanger}

 I'm excited to share my newest hand-painted doorhanger from Southern Antiques.

The Mardi Gras-inspired disco ball is a perfect welcome for Carnival guests. I adore the textures of this great art piece. The ribbons add to the festive flair.

Back to School {Doorhanger}

 Though certainly not my favorite doorhanger to display, the back-to-school streetcar is perfectly New Orleans. By the time you are reading this post, I will be back for year 34, the last 14 spent at St. Paul's Episcopal School. I recently added the streetcar doorhanger to my vast collection.

The doorhanger was purchased locally from Home Malone. There are two locations in New Orleans - one Uptown and one in Mid-City.

Welcome Summer! {Summer Door Hanger}

 Hi, y'all!

It's been a while as I have been enjoying my first few days of summer vacation. The end of the school year is always busy, and the first days of vacation are filled with lots of rest and relaxation.

I recently purchased a new summer doorhanger from one of my go-tos for seasonal door hangers, Tom Tom and Company. The newest doorhanger, Seashells & Chinoserie, is a perfect welcome for the months of summer.

TomTom's original "Seashells and Chinoiserie" design is a true favorite for this season.  It can be hung on your coastal home or in town to celebrate the summer season.

The top hole allows you to add your own ribbon or cording for hanging. It is completely outdoor safe, with pigmented outdoor inks, so there is no fading.

Tulips Door Hanger

 Springtime at the Cottage calls for a new door hanger. I ordered yet another creation from TomTom and Company. The Easter and tulips door hangers were the reason for the pink spring blooms in the garden. The chinoserie vase in green is the perfect compliment for the pretty pink blossoms. The welcoming door hanger adds a punch of color to the entrance.

Springtime: {Easter Doorhanger}

 I'm loving my newest doorhanger purchased from Southern Antiques in Laurel, MS. The topiary is handpainted and features a blue and white bamboo container. I also love the joy of the spring-colored ribbons. The doorhanger makes a great welcome for Spring and Easter.

Mardi Gras: Acorn Cottage {Crowned Acorn Door Hanger}

 Local artist Cynthia Kolls created the custom crowned acorn door hanger for me a couple years ago, and I love using it during the Carnival season. Of course, the door hanger was created with the Acorn Cottage in mind. There is no other artist who does a glitterd door hanger so well and professional.

Happy Mardi Gras season!

If You Dare {Pumpkin Topiary Doorhanger}

 Thanks for the nice comments on the Halloween facade in an early post.

The new door hanger was ordered from Southern Antiques, one of my favorite destinations in Laurel, MS. I snatch up the hand painted door hangers as soon as they are posted to the store's IG page. Yes! The store does ship.

I adore this one so much. A pumpkin topiary in a brownish chinoserie urn makes me quite happy to walk through the door each and every day.

School Daze

 And so it happens...

I return to school tomorrow after a summer off. It never gets any easier. I had a great summer and am fortunate to be able to spend it any way I want to do so. On the front door, I placed a yellow school bus-inspired streetcar by local artist Melissa Henry of Show Me the Door. It is probably my least favorite (for good reasons).

I cannot wait to see my kiddos on Wednesday (masks and all).

Hydrangea Door Hanger

 Welcome to the Acorn Cottage!

The 4th of July has passed, so the birdie door hanger flew away until next year. I was stoked to placed my newest hydrangea door hanger from Southern Antiques in Laurel, MS. The large white blooms housed in a blue and white chinoserie vessel looks amazing on the door and blends so well with the white limelight blooms in the front garden.

Tweet! Tweet! {Robin Door Hanger}

 I am loving my newest birdie door hanger purchased through Southern Antiques as featured on Home Town in Laurel, MS. The bird looks quite patriotic along with the ribbons. I put "him" out on Flag Day, and he will remain out until July 4.

RJ Custom Monogram {Door Hanger}

 If you've followed my blog for a while, you know that I adore a good monogram. Years ago, J and I's custom monogram was created at No. 411 which is now called Courtland & Co. (same owner) in Savannah, GA. I love the classic design of the R & J intertwined together. Since then, I have used the monogram for custom stationery, pillows, serveware, custom stamps, and other appliques. Recently, I had my favorite door hanger artist, Cynthia Kolls create a custom monogrammed door hanger. The monogram is perfect for between seasons. I took down my Mardi Gras wreath this weekend, and quickly added my new monogram creation. Cynthia was able to match the colors of the house, and with the addition of a gingham ribbon the door decor is complete. It will be on my door until it is time for the St. Patrick's Day shamrock.

Throw Me Somethin' {Mardi Gras: Door Hanger}

Cynthia Kolls, of Art by Cynthia Kolls, did it again! She took my idea and made it happen. The acorn symbol with a king's crown is a perfect door hanger for the Acorn Cottage.

I adore the shape and the use of glitter for a festive presentation. The customized piece is perfect for the Carnival season.

Be sure to check out Cynthia Kolls on etsy for custom door hangers, art pieces, or ornaments.
