Down & Derby

This year I did not attend the Kentucky Derby. I did not watch the Kentucky Derby. And I did not even attend a Kentucky Derby themed party. It was Jazz Fest weekend after all here in New Orleans.

I did however live vicariously through Alison at The Polohouse as she primped for the Kentucky Derby spectacle. Alison is a blogger friend whose style I adore so much.
I envy Alison, for she now lives in a former polo barn and stable that was completely converted and renovated into a stellar home.
Those of you who follow my blog and my pins on pinterest (Ralph Lauren style) know how much I appreciate the equestrian styles of icon, Ralph Lauren. I love the colors, textures, and accessories that lend itself to such a laid-back lifestyle. Alison’s home and decorating style certainly reflects that Ralph Lauren-esque style.
Take a look with me at some recent photos that Alison posted to her blog, The Polohouse, of a Kentucky Derby decorated soiree that was staged for a House Tour. Alison & a friend staged the home to what I consider Kentucky Derby class and perfection.

I am certainly glad I had the chance to experience the spirit of the Derby through Alison’s blog. Thanks, Alison for allowing me to share your amazing work. Maybe next year I’ll use some of your great ideas and host a Derby Soiree of my own.
Giddy up for Equestrian style, y’all!

  1. OMG, I just love this! My sister-in-law, Suzanne, and her husband went to the Kentucky Derby again this year. Maybe, one day, the hubby will take me there. Thanks for the "virtual" tour of your friend Allison's home--it is just lovely. :)

  3. Alison's home and Derby Day fare are fabulous! We watched on tv while sipping juleps and were sad when the Arkansas Derby winner placed second, but our decor was more "construction and plaster dust chic" than anythuing else.
