Decking the Halls, Stair Parlor {Christmas 2012}

On with the tour…

Now enter the Stair Parlor.

The stair parlor is “guarded” by the soldiers standing at attention in each niche.

On the central table (my fave) is an arrangement in a large mercury glass faux bois vessel. The arrangement contains stems of pine, red berries, and my favorite cotton boll branches. I think it makes a festive welcome.

The table holds my collection of boxes in bone, horn, oyster shells, and pewter. A glittered deer with a blowing collar “wish” sits atop the bone box. I purchased it last year with my Dixie Belles. We each have one from The Porch, now at The Shops at 2011 Magazine Street.

Atop the table is the chandelier decked in holiday spirit with red cane-style chandelier shades and tiny stems of pine wrapped around each light stem.

6 shiny ornaments hang from the chandelier.

The staircase features 2 magnolia garlands wrapped in mini white lights. Seasonal bows, pomegranates, and gold rope/tassel adorn the garland in strategic locales.

Along the stairs are potted poinsettias, decorative drums, and 2 glittered trees.

The small chest at the foot of the stairs is topped with compotes of Christmas balls in red and white & gold gilded acorns.

  2. So pretty, Ron. I love the way you go all out with your Christmas decor. I am slowly getting mine up. I thought about doing lights on the stair garland this year too but our dog is not quite a year old and I am afraid she will decide to eat the lights!
