We “Like”…

It’s that time of year yet again. It’s the start of another school year. As many of you know, I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science (Earth, physical, and life) at one of the most precious private schools in New Orleans. I too have always enjoyed doing thematic bulletin boards. Searching pinterest, I decided on a facebook-type theme for the upcoming school year.

Using the thumbs-up facebook icon, we “like” is the basis for the theme.

I set up my main board to represent the three subjects I teach surrounded by names of each of the students written in facebook thumbs-up stickers. The larger “like” symbol was ordered from etsy. I ordered several of these foam board symbols to place around the classroom and to use throughout the year.

The board across the front of the room shows the process skills of science. We “like” to….. create, infer, graph, etc.

The poster hanging from the lights “We “like” learning about…” with be surrounded by posters of subject matter my students will “like” learning about during the school year. During the first week, students will look through their new textbooks to find what interests them. Each student will then write their interests on facebook thumbs-up icons. More to come….

The hall bulletin board is the place where I place actual photos of my students during the various lab activities during the school year.

A poster by the door welcomes my 7th grade homeroom students.

The facebook thumbs up icon stickers were ordered from Zazzle.

The foam board thumbs up symbols were ordered on etsy from Mister Moustache. I ordered each without the stick.
