On My Bucket List {Chicago}

J is working in Chicago this week, and I am so jealous. I have never been to Chicago and have wanted to go there ever since Oprah had her show there. I know her daily talk show is long gone, but I still long to experience the beauty of the city.

J has been sending and posting photos, and I am in LOVE. I want to dine at RL Grill so badly. You all know I adore Mr. Ralph Lauren.

What a beautiful city! Chicago sure looks like my kind of town.

And J knows I love Burberry!

I know I'll be going there in the near future, so I would love ideas on shops and restaurants and must-sees.

Chicago Bucket List, y'all!

  1. Good evening, Ron! I saw that J is in Chicago, and I told him that Chicago is on my "bucket list." My hubby and Matthew have been taking and will be taking dad/son trips--skiing this past January, two road trips for LSU games--Wisconsin and Auburn. And next year, the US Open in Wisconsin on Fathers Day weekend and to Augusta for the Masters practice rounds. I think I will have to "cash in" on all those trips, and I may just have to go with my friend Becky. We talked about going a couple of years ago, but next year may be our time! Have a great evening! Cheers! xoxo

  3. I lived in Chicago for 2 years when we were first married. I enjoyed it and it is a nice city. I always called it a "country city" because it had a casual appeal even though it was a big city. It's changed a bit with new buildings but overall it's great especially since it sits along Lake Michigan. I worked at a bank across the street from the City Hall Bldg. where the Blues Brother's ended up in the first movie. I loved all the fantastic shopping for clothing and miss that a lot. I love Burberry too and wear the Burberry Brit perfume! The Holidays are wonderful there! I'm sure J is "suffering" through his visit there! LOL....

  4. Oh I love Chicago. When I was a Home Improvement Buyer I use to go there every year for Market. Always such a fun place. I use to get a kick out of the crazy cabs too and how they were all decorated.

  5. Hi Ron, I am a lifelong Chicago resident. It is so nice to know that people still love our city and it really is a great city despite the violence that has been posted all over the news. Unfortunately, like any big city, we have had our share of violence but Chicago is still a great place-our lakefront, the Gold-coast (Michigan Ave)our wonderful ethnic neighborhoods, the diversity, etc. Do yourself a favor and plan a long weekend here. I can guarantee you will love it!

  6. Ron you will love Chicago. I am so fortunate to live 30 minutes out in the suburbs of Chicago. It is a beautiful and fun city to visit. If you come plan on at least a week or 2 so you can take in a lot of the fun here. You will love the shopping on Michigan Avenue. Garrett's popcorn is a must. In fact you should have J bring some home. It is famous and so delish. The museums are awesome. The lake front is fun. So many wonderful hotels and restaurants. You must ride the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier to see out over the lake at night.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  7. The only think I DON'T like about Chicago is rush hour traffic and trying to get around the city during those times. The lake front is gorgeous and no matter WHAT you want to do you can do it in Chicago! xo Diana
