Saving the Coast: One Seedling at a Time

Last Thursday and Friday, I ventured down to Grand Isle with a group of 17- 6th graders to plant bitter panicum that we have been growing in our garden all year long.

Bitter panicum is a beach grass that is valuable to protecting our sandy coastline. As a science educator, it does make me feel very good to witness my students take such an active role in protecting our coastline.
