The Acorn Cottage {Before and After: Master Bedroom}

The master bedroom is not a large room but quite the cozy one. We decided to use lots of whites in differing tones to keep the smallish room light and bright. Touches of navy also gives the room a classic vibe.

Here is the master bedroom on May 11, 2018:

And here is the master bedroom today, September 21:

I am still in need (want) of a Roman shade for the window. We did keep the shutters in the window from the previous owner. The shutters will work for now, but I'd like to incorporate a graphic navy/white pattern in the Roman shade.

We started the redo with a new upholstered bed in white with nail head trim. Monogrammed pillows (of course) with each of our monograms are on the shams. A Hunt Sloem fabric lumbar pillow in a matching color scheme completes the look.
Above the bed is a wooden, golden sunburst mirror. Two mirrored chests flank the bed, and two new lamps in white and navy sit atop each.

I am so happy to finally have the Aidan Gray mirrored sconces hard wired alongside the Audubon Blue Heron. An antique Empire desk sits beneath the framed print.

We added the open butcher's shelves to hold the TV, books, and other fun accessories which give life to the room. The Empire style dresser adds the right amount of storage. J's grandmother's brass, glass, and marble lamps are cherished and are perfect in the master. Flossie! Flossie! Flossie was his very favorite person ever.

The bamboo 6-light chandelier is from Ballard Designs.

Master Bedroom, y'all!

  2. Good morning, Ron! The master bedroom is beautiful--love the navy and white scheme--clean and classic! Those mirrored chests on the sides of the beds are gorgeous, and the mirrored sconces flanking the Audubon Blue Heron and the antique Empire desk make a classy vignette! Looking forward to the next "before and after" post! Have a great day! xoxo
