Remembering Upperline: She's gone, but will never be forgotten

Closed since March 2020, Upperline Restaurant has shuttered forever owned and managed by the hostest with the mostest, JoAnn Clevenger.

You can read more about the closing of Upperline in Nola.com's recent feature HERE!

I also love these photos taken at Upperline through the years: click HERE!

Upperline was J and I's go-to since moving back to NOLA in the Fall of 2008. Located just a couple blocks from our home, Upperline has been a staple in New Orleans dining for a lot longer. J and I shared many meals at our favorite table downstairs. We also shared many meals with family and friends as we introduced many to the warmth of JoAnn and the deliciousness that is the creole-inspired food. I count myself very fortunate to have dined well and felt welcomed each and every time.

I will miss my favorites: fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade,  oysters St. Claude (the SAUCE!!!), and the Cane River Country Shrimp Saute' (Sautéed Shrimp, Mushrooms, Bacon & Garlic over Creamy Grits). My mouth waters just thinking about each one. Each will definitely be missed.

I will miss JoAnn. There is no host more friendly and attentive.

I will miss our favorite server Mark. Mark was often "dry witted" but attentive and to the point.

And I will miss our favorite martini shaker, Gerard. He always had our martinis ready for our visit.

Each of these photos below bring back such wonderful memories of a favorite New Orleans resturant.

                          Bye-Bye Upperline, y'all!

  3. It's sad when a favorite restaurant closes, especially one that you go to frequently, and know all the people who work there.
