Mardi Gras 2024 {Acorn Cottage: Living Room}

 During the majority of the year, the living room is the place where most guests enter our home. However, during the Carnival season, the front door remains locked, and invited guests know where to enter Acorn Cottage.

Placed in the living room are four of my favorite papier mache' lieutenants and Zulu warrior custom-crafted by a local artist for Judy at the Rink. I purchased each many years ago and do not recall the artist's name.

The coffee table also holds a palm frond filled with doubloons always a coveted throw from a parade. Pillows and decorated sconces complete the Carnival look.

Halloween {Living Room}

 Come on in (if you dare)...

Though I do not do much true Halloween decorating in the living room, there are certainly touches of the season. Seasonal leaves, pretty pumpkins, and seasonal candles add to the joys of the autumnal season.

Christmas 2022 {Acorn Cottage: Living Room}

 Christmas touches in the living room add some seasonal flair. In the living room, the Balsam Hill frasier fir is the star of the show. Traditional touches here and there denote the spirit of the holiday season. Remember the secretary?

I cannot believe that Christmas is only 4 days away. Are you ready yet? All my gifts have been purchased. All I have left to do is to wrap and embellish each gift.

Christmas 2022 {Acorn Cottage: Oh, Christmas Tree #2}

 I shared the Christmas tree in the sunroom, and I'd like to share the Christmas tree in the living room. This tree is a Balsam Hill frasier fir, and we've used it for 5 Christmas seasons.

The tree sits in an ivory urn from Ballard Designs. I adore how it is lifted from the floor. This tree also is filled with ornaments in traditional colors from our many travels. We love to add to our collections as we travel.

Can someone please send us some cooler weather? Stat!!!

Mardi Gras: Acorn Cottage {Living Room}

 Because we live in the Uptown Mardi Gras bubble, it is always fun to decorate for the season. The colors purple, green, and gold are found throughout my home. 

Today, I'd like you to step inside and see the living room in its Carnival splendor. 

On the coffee table, a Zulu warrior {from Judy at the Rink} is joined by porcelain boxes and a Baobab candle in purple {from Sotre}, one of the colors of the season.

A jester sits watch on the King's crown chadelier.

A new Carnival parade pillow purchased locally adds just the right amount of color and spirit.

My favorite papier mache' figures purchased from Judy at the Rink years ago sit atop one of my favorite furniture pieces.

Rex and other krewe ducals and medallions are pinned to a Mardi Gras toile pillow which rests on an antique chair covered in Hazelnut's New Orleans Delphine toile.
