Spring has Sprung!

 Spring has definitely sprung here in New Orleans as the oak pollen has been filling the air and the sidewalks. As soon as St. Patrick's Day passed, the bunnies were ready to get outside. Around the front yard, bunnies, eggs, and carrots abound in all of their Eastery glory. The bunny doorhanger and mat also welcome guests to the Acorn Cottage.

I am most looking forward to the upcoming break for some well-deserved time away from school.

Mardi Gras: Acorn Cottage {Crown}

 The House Float craze inspired me to get "grander", so last year I had a life-sized jester custom-made and designed by a local artist @nolabeemade. I have always wanted a decoration adorning the top of the entrance of Acorn Cottage, and this year I decided to have the same artist design a large crown. Though I was expecting it to be even wider, I still love the effect that it brings to the facade of the Cottage. And who in their right mind does not adore a crown? Right?

Mardi Gras: Acorn Cottage {Facade}

 Mardi Gras is one of my favorite decorating seasons. Yes! It can be tacky to some, but I try to purchase decor that is timeless nd somewhat classic.

Yesterday was a beautiful cool and crisp day, so I was finally able to snap some good photos here at Acorn Cottage.

Happy Spring!

 The weather has been absolutely beautiful for the start of the spring season. This weekend, the bunnies and eggs graced the front door and gardens.

The cute door hanger and gingham door mat is from Tom Tom and Company.

The large eggs in gingham and plaid were custom made for me by NolaBee Made, a local artist.

I am ready for the Easter season, especially spring break. Bring it on!

Mardi Gras Mambo: Acorn Cottage {Life-sized Jester}

 Though I'd love a Blaine Kern original jester, I called upon a local, New Orleans artist to create a life-sized jester for the front yard. I contacted Summer McCune of NolaBeeMade with my idea, and she accepted the challenge. Two weeks later, I received the jester, and he looks great in the front garden. The jester is waterproof and UV protected, so he will be able to make a visit each and every year.

Summer has some great NOLA-inspired products. Check out her website by clicking HERE.
