The Acorn Cottage {How the Facade Looks Today}

Do I need to remind you what the cottage looked like when we purchased "her" back in May?

Poor baby! She needed some serious TLC. The bones and the structure were fine, but the curb appeal, not so much.
Removing the shrubs, removing the siding and replacing with Hardie board, painting the exterior with a fresh, modern color, and adding character with an awning, shutters, and more, all added to the cottage look I knew this house needed (and desired). J and I had the vision, and it is fun to see it come alive.

Here is how "she" looks today:

The painters are still doing touch-ups, the gas lantern will be plumbed tomorrow, and a couple other punch-list projects need addressing.

The house is located in a prime Uptown location, so the updates will go a long, long way. You know what they say, "location! location! location!".

Now, I look forward to the landscape which will tie the whole vision together and make this truly the cottage home of our dreams.

  4. I had forgotten what the "before" pics looked like especially the overgrown trees and scrubs blocking the house. What a transformation...and that new copper awning is the icing on the cake.

  10. You know what you're doing, Ron, the copper awning & the gas lantern makes it pop in such a charming, fabulous way! What I miss from your previous home's plantings are your ferns & palms which gave it such a sultry, southern look that we in the more northern climes can't quite capture...year round anyway. I am enjoying enormously taking this journey with you. Bravo!

  11. Ron it is all just beautiful. What a difference you have made to this beautiful cottage. She has the most beautiful curb appeal now. Location is everything in real estate and your diamond in the rough is shining brightly now.
    Have a great weekend.
