Mardi Gras 2024 {Acorn Cottage Facade}

 Decorating never ends in New Orleans. Right after the rush of Christmas, the Mardi Gras season begins on January 6. The Christmas decor is all packed away, and this past weekend the shades of purple, green, and gold started to grace the Acorn Cottage.

I changed up a few things including the front door. Last season, I scored the most fun ball garland from Hilltop Shoppe on Magazine Street. With an added crown from Old Estate in Thibodaux and Carnival flowers from Carnival Sculpture, the front door is ready to welcome the many guests of the Mardi Gras season.

Mardi Gras bunting and garlands add holiday spirit to the fence and gate. Numerous purple, green, and gold holiballs sit throughout the yard. And ball wreaths hang in the windows.

And do not forget my favorite jester. He's back!

I adore the busy Mardi gras season, and with the Mardi Gras season being so early, it is sure to get busy really quick.

It's Looking A Lot Like Christmas {Acorn Cottage Facade}

 I am a traditionalist, so my favorite colors to decorate with for the Christmas season are red, green, and gold. Both outside and in, the colors of the season abound in ribbons, wreaths, and holiday-themed accessories.

Let's start with the outside of the Acorn Cottage! This season I added garlands of metallic red balls. I love red for the holidays, so this adds just the perfect seasonal touch.

I adore holiday decorating.

It's Fall Y'all {Thanksgiving: Facade}

 When the "spookies" are packed away, the front of the house gets a mini makeover for the month of November. I used stalks of corn and bittersweet to accent the decor. The pumpkin stacks remain in place. Gold-gilded magnolia wreaths looped with new ribbons were placed on the front door as well as the wall of windows in the front of the house. I also made a cornice out of the corn stalks and placed it over the front entrance. The facade is clean, simple, and Fall.

SPOOKTACULAR October {Halloween in the Front Garden}

October brings cooler weather and Halloween.

Over the last week, I installed the Halloween decorations on the outside of The Acorn Cottage. I think they look SPOOKtacular.

The mummy greets visitors on the front porch along with a collection of pumpkins (which fill the planter) and flying crows. The door hanger is a new purchase during the pandemic from Tom Tom and Company. The black garland which outlines the entrance is a Grandin Road purchase last year, and it has held up beautifully.

On the front fence, wire-garland branches are strung with creepy flicker lights. It makes a beautiful display at night.
