December at Acorn Cottage: Acorn Cottage Facade {Nighttime}

 It’s hard to believe that it’s already December 1, and the Acorn Cottage is officially dressed for the Christmas season. This year’s décor may be my favorite yet. Red ribbons and glossy red balls are tucked throughout the yard, bringing such a cheerful pop of color to every corner.

The newest addition is the large red bow hanging over the porch doorway. It’s truly a statement piece—bold, bright, and beautifully festive. It pairs perfectly with another new favorite: the red ornament wreath handmade by local artist Claire Heap of @vintageshinybrite. Claire’s talent shines through every detail, and I’m so glad I discovered her work through Southern Antiques.

As night falls, the decorations sparkle beneath the white lights, transforming the cottage into a cozy, glowing retreat. The live cedar garlands from Mitch’s Flowers drape softly along the fence and around the door, adding that fresh, woodsy charm that only real greenery can bring.

What a warm and welcoming way to begin the season!

Mardi Gras 2024 {I Bought My Own Flowers}

 I love fresh flowers, and the shades of the Mardi Gras season. Again this year, I headed to my local florist, Mitch's Flowers on Magazine Street for Carnival-spirited designs. Monique and her team hit it out of the park once again. Blooms in shades of purple, green, and gold are ready to greet our many guests this Carnival season.

It's Mardi Gras Time {Acorn Cottage: Fresh Flowers}

 It's no secret that J and I love fresh flowers, so for the Mardi Gras season I always call upon my favorite girls at Mitch's Flowers on Magazine Street to create a few seasonal-inspired arrangements for the house. The arrangements were delivered yesterday, and they are simply perfect. Take a look!

The busy Mardi Gras season continues tonight with my most favorite parade, Muses!

It's Christmas Time {Fresh Flowers}

 It would not be the holiday season without fresh flowers around the house. I'm sure my friends at Mitch's Flowers were stunned when I asked for red carnations, but I love how they look massed together. And carnations last a long time. With the addition of cedar and southern kumquats, the arrangements are perfect.

In the master bath, the red carnations pop against the white and black accents.

An amaryllis from a friend and a paperwhite from Red Onion add to the spirit of the season.

It's Christmas Time {Acorn Cottage: Facade}

 Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, it is time to share Christmas from the Acorn Cottage. I am not one of those bloggers who decorate early just to fill my feed with Christmas photos for blog hops, etc. I actually do not like blog hops. My photos are in real time.

Today, I'd like to share the Christmas facade of the Acorn Cottage. I used d. stevens plaid ribbons with fresh greens as delivered by Mitch's Flowers. Red poinsettias from Perino's Garden Center also add to the spirited decor.

This year, I moved the toy soldiers in front of the windows under the copper awning. I also added plaid ribbons as scarves.

It is supposed to get really cold tomorrow. I am so very ready for cooler, more seasonal weather.

I'll share more of the porch when the sun comes out again.

Fresh Flowers: White Lilies & Hydrangeas

I'm so glad that Mitch's Flowers is once again making deliveries of fresh blooms. For the past couple weeks, I have ordered bunches of white lilies and white hydrangeas. Fresh flowers always make me happy but even more during this period of quarantine. I love placing them in some favorite containers.

I was also happy to get a bunch of fresh gardenia blooms from a neighbor. The smell is intoxicating!

It's the little things that matter at this time.

Let the Good Times Roll {Mitch's Flowers}

It wouldn't be the Mardi Gras season without a trip to Mitch's Flowers for blooms in hues of purples, greens, and golds. I love fresh flowers, so I love to have them all our the house during the season.

The ladies at Mitch's Flowers know how to deliver beautiful blooms.
