Mardi Gras at Acorn Cottage: Fresh Blooms

There is something about fresh flowers that instantly brings me joy. They have a way of making a home feel warm, welcoming, and alive, no matter the season. During Mardi Gras, my love for flowers becomes even more special, as I lean into the vibrant colors and festive spirit that this time of year brings.

Once again, my go-to floral designers at Mitch’s Flowers on Magazine Street created the most beautiful blooms for our guests to enjoy throughout the Mardi Gras season. Their creativity and attention to detail never disappoint. Each arrangement is thoughtfully designed with lush, fresh flowers in the traditional Mardi Gras colors of purple, green, and gold, perfectly capturing the energy and celebration of Carnival.

What makes these arrangements even more meaningful is the stunning presentation. The blooms are displayed in Mardi Gras-inspired vessels crafted by talented pottery artist Vickie Carroll and Baton Rouge artist Carol Cassisa. Their handcrafted pieces add such a unique and artistic touch, making each arrangement feel truly special and perfectly suited for the season.

Fresh flowers have always been one of my favorite ways to celebrate holidays and gatherings. They create an atmosphere of beauty and hospitality that I love sharing with family and friends. These Mardi Gras arrangements are no exception — they bring color, tradition, and artistry together in the most delightful way.

Mardi Gras 2024 {I Bought My Own Flowers}

 I love fresh flowers, and the shades of the Mardi Gras season. Again this year, I headed to my local florist, Mitch's Flowers on Magazine Street for Carnival-spirited designs. Monique and her team hit it out of the park once again. Blooms in shades of purple, green, and gold are ready to greet our many guests this Carnival season.

It's Mardi Gras Time {Acorn Cottage: Fresh Flowers}

 It's no secret that J and I love fresh flowers, so for the Mardi Gras season I always call upon my favorite girls at Mitch's Flowers on Magazine Street to create a few seasonal-inspired arrangements for the house. The arrangements were delivered yesterday, and they are simply perfect. Take a look!

Limelights from the Garden

 I shared the limelight hydrangeas in the front garden last month. Recently, I cut a few blooms and brought them inside to enjoy. The blooms were place in a blue and white chinoserie jar and look great on the dining room table. I love having fresh blooms inside.

It's Christmas Time {Fresh Flowers}

 It would not be the holiday season without fresh flowers around the house. I'm sure my friends at Mitch's Flowers were stunned when I asked for red carnations, but I love how they look massed together. And carnations last a long time. With the addition of cedar and southern kumquats, the arrangements are perfect.

In the master bath, the red carnations pop against the white and black accents.

An amaryllis from a friend and a paperwhite from Red Onion add to the spirit of the season.

Fresh Flowers: White Lilies & Hydrangeas

I'm so glad that Mitch's Flowers is once again making deliveries of fresh blooms. For the past couple weeks, I have ordered bunches of white lilies and white hydrangeas. Fresh flowers always make me happy but even more during this period of quarantine. I love placing them in some favorite containers.

I was also happy to get a bunch of fresh gardenia blooms from a neighbor. The smell is intoxicating!

It's the little things that matter at this time.

I adore {Fresh Hydrangeas}

I love having fresh flowers in the home, and I especially love hydrangeas. Hydrangeas last over a week and come in an array of subtle colors. I recently picked up a couple bunches in whites and pale greens at my local grocery store.
