Mardi Gras 2024 {Acorn Cottage: Holiballs}

 I've used Holiballs at Christmas, and they are also fun to share the Carnival spirit. The purple, classic green, and (mari)gold are my three favorites during the Mardi Gras season. Spread theorufh the front garden, the Holiballs add a festive touch all season long.

It's Looking A Lot Like Christmas {Acorn Cottage Facade}

 I am a traditionalist, so my favorite colors to decorate with for the Christmas season are red, green, and gold. Both outside and in, the colors of the season abound in ribbons, wreaths, and holiday-themed accessories.

Let's start with the outside of the Acorn Cottage! This season I added garlands of metallic red balls. I love red for the holidays, so this adds just the perfect seasonal touch.

I adore holiday decorating.

Christmas 2022 {Acorn Cottage: The Facade}

 Red, green, and gold abound in the front of Acorn Cottage. I adore fresh cedar garlands and wreaths as well as pops of red with red poinsettias and balls. Ribbons of plaid are my favorite to use at the holiday season. Take a walk into the front garden...

    Merry, Merry! {Acorn Cottage: Daylight Facade}

     It was not the most beautiful day when I snapped photos of the Acorn Cottage, but I still think she looks pretty dressed in her holiday splendor.

    The front door features a new shield monogrammed door hanger by Cynthia Kolls. It is surrounded by live greenery and a plaid ribbon.

    I love the holiballs that I added to my Christmas decor last year. I see that they are available locally this year (Does that mean everyone will have them?).

    As stated before, I am a traditionalist. I love red, green, gold, and silver in my Christmas decor. It is classic and never will go out of style. This is the second season that I have used my plaid ribbon by d.stevens, and it had weathered very well.

    Have you decorated yet? Tomorrow is December 1. Get moving!

    Mardi Gras Mambo: Acorn Cottage Facade

     The Mardi Gras season began on January 6, and the decorations went up this past weekend. With no parades through Uptown this year due to the pandemic, residents are really going all-out with their homes and yards. Besides my own home, I hope to share many of the decorated homes around New Orleans. Stay tuned.

    J and I spend most of Saturday morning adding our Mardi Gras finery to the front yard and porch. New this year are the reveler silhouettes created by NOLA artists Stronghold Studios. The flat black silhouettes are the perfect backdrop for the addition of masks, garlands, lights, and beads. Without revelers on the neutral grounds, these will bring a sense of normalcy to the season. "Throw me something, mister!"

    My favorite holiballs in the colors of the season are also a new addition to the front yard. These are so much fun.

    Gold masks, garlands, papier mache' blooms, and lights on the fence complete the festive Mardi Gras look!

    Laissez les bons temps rouler!

    It's Mardi Gras, y'all!
