SPOOKtacular October {Acorn Cottage Facade}

 October is one of my favorite months of the year. October brings cooler temperatures, Fall Break (a week of no school), and Halloween. The Halloween season is celebrated hugely in the city of New Orleans.

Today, I'd like to share the Acorn Cottage dressed in her Halloween glory. The front yard features pumpkins stacked as topiaries in garden pots. Felt bats fly away along the front of the house.

On the door, an orange and black chinoserie pumpkin welcomes guests and adds the perfect touch to the Halloween decor. More bats and a life-sized mummy guard us during the month of October.

Black feathery wreaths hang in teh windows, metal ghosts line the walkway, and crows perch along the fence.

Thanks for stopping by.

You should see the glow at night. Stay tuned!

Halloween/Fall {Pretty Chinoserie Pumpkins}

 When I spotted this handpainted chinoserie tin pumpkins I knew they would be added to the sunroom. The green color and the detailed leaf and bird motifs coordinate so well in the sunroom. Green is my most favorite hue, so the addition of the seasonal pumpkins makes for a great display. The pumpkins even blend well with the leaf and bird motif of the room's custom drapes and pillows.

The pretty pumpkins were purchased from a new well-appointed shop on Magazine Street, Pique' by PK (Parker Kennedy).

I will most likely add the pumpkins to the sunroom shelves because I love them so much.

SPOOKTACULAR October {Attack of the Crows}

 The crows have landed at the Acorn Cottage and are perched for a spooktacular Halloween season. They have flown all over the front yard.

SPOOKTACULAR October {Hazel's Market for Pumpkins}

You asked. Here is where we get our perfect pumpkins annually.

For the past few years on our way out of Point Clear/Fairhope, J and I make a pit stop at Hazel's Market in Daphne, AL for all of our pumpkin needs. I have never seen so many different varieties of pumpkins and gourds. The selection is vast, and the pumpkins are so healthy.

Gotta love KNUCKLEHEADS!!!

SPOOKTACULAR October {Pumpkins...}

 J and I finally picked up the last of our pumpkins from Hazel's Market in Daphne, AL. There are so many different varieties of pumpkins to choose from, and I love to add them to the Halloween/Fall decor. I added the newest gourds to the existing ones J and I purchased at Perino's in Metairie a couple weeks back. The pumpkins will last throughout the season until Thanksgiving.

It's Beginning to Look (and Feel) like Fall

 This weekend, especially Saturday, was the very first time the weather gave us a hint of the Fall season ahead. J and I worked in the front yard, cleaned windows, and went to storage for some Halloween/Fall decorations. Of course, I did not do much decorating outside yesterday, so here is how the Acorn Cottage looks today. A cool front is supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I will plan on putting out more decor in the coming week.

Have you begun your decorating? How do you plan for Fall?

Halloween Tour... Come on in if you dare!

Come on into the Acorn Cottage...

The living room is filled with Halloween delights such as ghoulish framed ancestors, painted pumpkins, and scary skulls. I do my best to keep the Halloween as classy as I can. I often search for and purchase unique items that cannot be found at Party City, Walmart, Target, or the like.

The hand painted pumpkins are a new find this year. They were actually found by J on his trip down Magazine Street when his mother and sister visited last month. The designs go well in the living room especially with the blue and white ginger jars.
